- Clinkster ain´t 4klang.
Those two SoftSynths aren´t comparable!
Maybe just due to Clinkster being invented/coded way earlier than 4klang was, but most likely thanks to gopher (maker of 4klang) having had lots of input from the makers of Clinkster while developing it. He went with a completely different approach, an approach of a coder trying to achieve sth that is variable in every state. Ending up in sth that only people can use that have some coders-background or are very unselfishness, being able to drown emselves into sth that is very hard to master! ;)
Anyway, i tried to get into Clinkster, long before it got a name or a release myself as many others, i tried and to me the reult of my first and only try is what it is, a coders approach to try to make music with Clinkster:
hArDy - FirstTryOnClinkster
Its about like that: If you are a Coder, go with 4klang (or try to teach your musician about it!) ...if you are a musician, just go with Clinkster!
Both SoftSynths have Advantages and Misses...both rule...a lot! :D
Thanks again for releasing Clinkster! I really loved fooling around with it! I even considered the above track to be the music for my last 4k, but my local Pals decided; I got em to listen to both tracks and they decided on the other one made in 4klang for "Kologne Koder Kolorz" ;)...nothin´to do with the Synth tho, just my non-demoscene-Friends-likings! - isokadded on the 2014-01-13 22:16:40
- demo MS-Dos Zoantrophy by Mist
- This is strange in all regards.
Firstly i never heard of that group ever before i just today found a youtube for this demo. Then there´s no dezign at all, the pace is just lousy and the music is a mixed bag, partly ok, partly sucks completely.
But then this never-heard-of group comes up with nice ideas codewise and the code is even good! Also Textures are! wtf? The Graphics are just ok, color-choices suck everywhere!
To me this looks like they had just one good man, the coder, whom did the textures aswell, also the layout/design, which is why the demo sucks in the end!
But thats what happens if you leave your coder alone to finish a demo once you made your input! (sound, gfx)
A Big Thumbup for that One-Man-Demomachine, even if he got helpers providing music and gfx; He did it all on his own! ;) (just guessing still!) - rulezadded on the 2014-01-13 21:12:00
- demo MS-Dos Windows Mayhem by Incognita
- yep, messy and ugly.
but i liked them 2D-MetaCircles, if they were such, hard to say ;)
Music tried to entertain aswell, i leave a pig here...in some countries a pig is worth a woman...if you add a camel or two! - isokadded on the 2014-01-13 20:44:15

- 64k MS-Dos soppa by Future Crew
- I love this!
Melon. would have been proud, if they had had this dezign-idea!
But they would have put better colors and wouldn´t have ruined it with the chaos-zoomer, which colors really suck, at the end!
Also some TDK would have fitted this a lot! - rulezadded on the 2014-01-13 19:54:03
- demo MS-Dos mental surgery by Future Crew
- Except the scrollers Font i dislike this completely.
The music sounds like made for some major trackmo, but even then (with according effects etc.) i would have most likely disliked it.
But exactly the Music is what keeps my thumbdown away; It´s way too good/pro, just not my taste. - isokadded on the 2014-01-13 19:47:33
- demo MS-Dos/gus venus by Fudge
- In 1996, being an Amiga-User back then, this would have mindblown me maybe, cant exactly say ofcoz.
I really like how it´s taking you on a smooth trip (flybys in modern graphics suck, yes, but here it makes sense!) with nothing more than some 3d-engine and fitting music.
Pretty easy, once you have a Textured Vector-Engine running, but making that much out of it is an achievement on its own! - rulezadded on the 2014-01-13 19:36:38
- 4k MS-Dos Heaven by NoooN
- well, the colors are strange!
But the code rulez! Good shit for 1995!
I still wonder what this would look like with some faded Frame-/Time-/MotionBlur ;)
I am talking of this - rulezadded on the 2014-01-13 19:19:22
