- If you really want to make an improved version, reconsider finding someone to help you...you can only teach eachother getting a better (gameboy-)coder...nothing to lose! Gaining knowledge and speeding up the work this way, motivating eachother by just making progress! Also coding in a team is double the fun! ;)

- Exactly what i thought everyone would do with the extra-space, textures and more post-fx.
I myself didnt finish my entry in time once again, but used my textures for sth completely different...will try to get it done (in 8k) and deliver at evoke into 64k-compo...then you´ll see what i meant, nothing special tho, just different. Post-fx-wise i also added DoF...i even made it that small in the end, i´ll use it in future-4ks aswell! :)
Concept-wise i would have wished for you using the Bump only towards the end to let everything rust and also slow down (until full stop) every motion while rusting...maybe that was your intention, but then you didnt serve it well.
Soundtrack fitted it all the way.

Your soil worked for me, but not the grass-texture. I love how you let those plants move a bit, tho, like as it was getting some wind! :)

But the others are right, the visuals were eyefisting...here´s the trick to avoid that next time:
Simply walk some way (like 2-5 units) on your rays (every pixel) before you start testing against the geometry. After you initialized your rayPosition and your rayDirection:
rayPosition += rayDirection * 2.0;
Then start your raymarch-loop.
This way your geometry wont reach into the camera anymore...the geometry is cutted away a bit, but still looks better than what you had here.
Synth still rocks! You made better music already, tho. :p
