- demo Windows Phlubby Gnome by Trepaan [web]
- Ugh this gets right in the worst "demo" hall of fame. Won't even get into what's wrong with it.

- demo Windows Two Brothers by Kooma
- It's interesting at least and I did push for it to get shown over some of the bad stuff that ended up in the compo. The first half is spent showing essentially one effect though and the rest isn't that great either. Finally, I don't find hearing about Kain and Abel in extremely finnish accents anything except funny and that really works against the mood in this. I wish it was done in finnish.

- demo Windows mdma by Threepixels [web]
- Totally forgettable. Textbook demoscene effect after effect after effect. The colors are about the only thing original here.

- demo Windows Virhe by Maturefurk
- Not a very complete prod and it is easy to believe that this was rushed together in 42h. There are some good aspects to this, but there's just too little and it's all not put together very well at all.
Guess it speaks volumes about the quality of the ASM'99 that this got 1st. Do Zen which is really a good demo should've won though. This deserved 2nd. - isokadded on the 2006-02-06 00:32:26
- demo Windows Kiulu Win32 by Pontus
- Just repeating what has been done before except for the water but at least it does it in style, saffron's graphics and the selected palette work well and the music is all right especially in the beginning. Some minor distinguishing touches added to the otherwise stock effects here. It's all right.

- demo Linux Autumn Dreams by Outbreak [web]
- The music and the first effect are the good parts but after that it's really not particularly interesting or good looking I'm sorry to say. I really appreciate this being on linux though. I wish outbreak ported some of their better stuff for Linux as well.

- demo Windows Artcity by Nah-Kolor [web] & anadune [web]
- Great music and 2d but the effects here are almost nonexistent and they mostly make it harder to see the nice art on the background. It *is* enjoyable, check it out.

- demo Windows Experimental by Wipe [web]
- Classic design, reminds me of enlight the surreal in that it succesfully uses the good old formula to deliver an overwhelming experience in a time and age where that's not very common. That said, wipe has their own special objects/effects that make it original. Just a couple of them but they work sufficiently in variations for this to be a real treat along with the kickass music. The voxel landscape could've been omitted though.

- demo Windows wjff by Wipe [web]
- Pretty much the same effects as f. ex. experimental in a a lot more rushed production. Doesn't look too bad and I'm not yet sick of their stuff so a piggy...

- demo Windows Liquid Forms by ADDiCT [web]
- Unique looking effects and a very good soundtrack to boot. It also has something that very few demos manage, a distinctive visual look from the rest of the stuff out there.
I like how it opens with the church painting and also ends with it similarly to the music structure although it's true that it isn't strongly related to the effect show in between. Also good is the finishing touches, the frame on top of the actual effects.
Well formed and one to be remembered for sure. Addict's past performance didn't make me expect something like this. - rulezadded on the 2006-02-05 02:05:09
