• It's a bit cheating as MSX-DOS offers some advantage (like no file header and 64k of memory already mapped) and it's perfectly possible to provide a 256 bytes in 3 others ways on MSX machines:
  the BASIC is perfectly able to run binary files, it could be released as a ROM or at last crammed into the bootblock of a floppy disk.
  It's like using CP/M on Amstrad to deliver a 256 bytes or on any other 8 bit machine which have an extra OS but is perfectly able to run binary files without it.
