- Found it: Snata by Cosine. The DMA is used for the border colours.

- BHF, iirc there was a small demo 10-11 years ago from TMR/Cosine that used the DMA, but it's nowhere near as massive as this one.
Today, everyone can see this in an emulator or on youtube, yes. Not everyone can see it on their actual C64 though, that was my point. It's still a great demo (and I said so both on CSDb and here).
