- Great demo, with quite a few "wow" moments. I think this deserves a more in-depth review than my usual oneliner...
Bump: Nice smooth platic feel to it. But my favorite C64 bump is still the head in Soiled Legacy though.
Feedback effect: Wow, a feedback effect on C64... Not sure how realtime it is though, since it's displayed for such a short while.
Dithered colorful plasma, in what seems like 4x2 mode: Biggest wow effect of the demo. It really got me puzzled, but the missing FLI bug, as well as some small bugs in the gfx that are only visible when pausing it, has lead me to believe it's stored into plain bitmap, and that's gotta be quite cumbersome because of the color restrictions. I also like the way the "girl with a headache" gfx is used to almost give it a full screen appearance, even though the effect only takes up like a third of the screen. Oldskoolers like me would probably just have made the effect in a rectangle in the middle of the screen, and then filled out the empty spaces with logos, rasterbars and scrollers, but this is obviously more stylish.
Rubber vector: Not something you see every day on C64. Can't really remember when was the last time I saw one of these, but it might have been back in one of the Comalight demos by Oxyron. This one is probably the best rubber vector on C64 yet, but I bet it could be done better. Very nice bg gfx.
Twistor: Nice bg gfx too, and a nice effect, which unfortunately quickly turns into some not that nice variations, and then disappears way too early.
The next twistor seems like something that was finished in a hurry. But at least it has more colors than the usual 4 multicolor ones, so I guess that counts for something.
Diagonal checker board wobbler: Seems to be the trendy effect at BP 2006. I like the oneframed versions by Chorus and Dekadence better, but this one is neat too.
Tunnel: Looks like something that has been done in 16 color 4x4 before, but as usual it looks better in dithered 4x4.
Vector trip: Quite boring, and the gfx to the right is ugly, so this is an Alt+W moment. In warp mode it looks pretty kewl though. :)
Looking forward to the 100% version. This could easily be the demo of the year. - rulezadded on the 2006-04-18 14:16:26
