- demo Windows Odyssey by Stravaganza [web]
- hmm.. the neat bits were slow and the dull bits were fast.. the music was competent but uninspiring.. the 3d scenes were derivative (maybe i shouldn't have watched this after kasparov).. so, that makes for a piggy, right?

- demo Windows Kasparov by Elitegroup [web]
- elend: nice site, wish the images were higher res.. if i had 3dStudioMax or any artistic skill, i'd be trying to model all those things.. very kasparov and very dystopian.. (diamondie: antiutopia = dystopia)

- well, "coup de couer" means (thought not quite literally) "hits you in the heart" ... and this almost did it for me.. it's a great, very fast 3d engine, the scene is huge and beautifully detailed, the spiders are nice, i liked the double imaging and the wireframes and the blur, etc.. there's also something of an implied narrative that suits the "emptiness" of the scene.. i didn't have any trouble staying awake through the 10 minutes.. on the other hand, it *does* sort of look like a game intro, but i've yet to see any games with as artistic a sense for the camera or as decent synchro (both in timing and mood).. it's a 3d flyby demo, something i don't usually like, but artistically, it's the peak of what can be achieved in that style so it deserves much respect..

- demo Windows tAAt 2003 by tAAt [web]
- hehe... i like this because it's amusingly twisted.. the music sounds as if it was composed by a primary school band who've just discovered a tracker.. and of course there are those wonderful unintelligible lyrics by the famous taat speech synthesizer.. there's stuff i could criticize (eg. lousy framerate in parts, etc.), but i'm sure somebody else will do that for me.. thanks for the new year's present guys..

- demo Windows Lythium: Nylon Time by kalium cyanide group
- hmm.. lacks design, though the bits with the rotating 3d text is good in that regard.. music is ripped i believe (though you admit that it's a 'tribute').. nice tune, though.. the effects that didn't look too familiar were nice.. very drab colour scheme, and if i have to choose i prefer drab to high-intensity rgb.. yes, it's a nice effort, i suppose.. hmm..

- 64k Windows fr-minus-03.2: rausch-o-mat by Farbrausch [web]
- it's really shiny and smoooth! i like the music better than dopplerdefekt.. and the syncing of the audio degradation with the visual static at the end is very well done.. c'est une bonne chose!

- 64k Windows fr-029: dopplerdefekt by Farbrausch [web]
- would've been pretty good without the 3d element even if the music didn't do a whole lot for me (sound quality was pretty good though) .. as usual fr managed to fit a lot of stuff into a tiny amount of bytes.. with the 3d it's even better.. it's pretty well implemented, but the stereoscopic image phasing seems to be a little too extreme here and there which lessens the quality of the effect.. or maybe my eyes are just f*cked.. :)

- demo Windows Planet Loop by MadWizards [web] & Nah-Kolor [web]
- simply stunning.. couldn't tear my eyes away from it.. great music, good effects, nice 3d, really long.. liked the fake ending too.. went beyond my expectations.. best of all is the design of the overlays and text, etc. which is even better than the best haujobb.. these people should be making big bucks working for a world-class design firm instead of giving the milk away for free.. but i'm glad they did :)

- demo Windows Hammer Vibration by Fingersoft [web]
- it's a 64k that almost fits in 32k.. neat.. only one of the routines looked seriously recycled (the black background 3d sine dots thingy) and i liked the rest of them.. they were somewhat unique and had a nice innocent and naive kind of flavour (probably due to the colors).. chiptune was good but when it switches to the harder 4-on-the-floor rhythm there should have definitely been a sync with the visuals.. the scroller could've used some work.. just using a different font might've helped.. overall though, i enjoyed it..

- demo Windows 7cf by Moppi Productions
- looks good and sounds good.. excellent design, though very much of the era it was crafted during (the pseudo-japanese designers republic look).. a bit short though.. i'd have been happy to watch it for a few more minutes..
