- demo Windows fr-055: 828 by Farbrausch [web]
- at first i hated it, but then noticed that 055 is a bit like listening to some of ulver's songs, it requires concentration. it's quite long but not too long to get bored. i love the design, but hate the fact that it's a bloatdemo. still, it's among the best ones i've seen and has the courage to be different and not fall into the usual clichées. it's easy to make a crappy annoying piece of shit-abstract noisedemo, but some how farbrausch has managed to avoid that in 055.

- demo XBOX 360 evoid droid by Excess [web] & Portal Process
- eääägh.... apparently there was some kind of lame semi-abstract storyline with the angsty suicidal robot and some scenes were really out of place in the demo. water + blood(?) effects were nicely thought out. the demo looked like a random collection of random quality scenes. some were extermely nice, some were lame. so all in all, a piggy, though closer to tu than td.

- demo Windows Media Error by Fairlight [web] & Carillon & Cyberiad [web] & orange
- The effects and technical level are outstanding. The design, well, i'm kind of bored with this numedia line/noise/tag-style but it still works well, it has its moments when it really works.
Generally, the problem with these kind of demos is that they are the part of demoscene that steers more and more away from the demoscene concept and towards general video art. i'm not saying all demos should stick to the idea of just showing off effects one by one and reusing the same ideas over and over again (it would kill the scene), evolution is inevitable, but i would bow superbly to a demo looking even slightly like this and having been optimized for a computer one would never believe it could run on. imo the best results are made when one is pushed to his limits with shitty slow and restricted tools and even THEN forced to come up with an elegant design. i just can't see this demo as such. still, tu for the overall impression. - rulezadded on the 2007-08-10 09:36:07
- demo MS-Dos Gateways by Trauma
- some scenes are fugly but overall it's very good and i love that it's divided in parts in the style of old demos. music rolls along nicely and props for a handcoded software engine.
