- The problem is that sprites fuck up the timing i.e. steals cycles from the CPU in a rather nontrivial way, and you need timing for rasterbars and especially opening of the sideborder, which requires manipulating the VIC at exact cycles.

- p01: Guess you meant "aren't"? I agree, and the reason is that there was no way I could cut any more bytes off it to get enuff space for setting the sprite colors, so I had to go with the default ones.

- Inspired by p01's "rubber in solid #"/ribbon as well as Skate's C64 twistors. Thanx for the inspiration, and to everyone who pushed me to give it yet another try with the twistors. Waiting to see what someone will come up with next. :)

- Heh, don't get your hopes up. I just did mine for fun when I saw the one by Street Tough and wondered whether it could be improved a bit, which I think I succeeded with, and after this one I really don't have any more ideas on what could be done in 256b. So I declare Skate the winner.
