- demo Commodore 64 Back to Basics
- Shouldn't really come as a surprise, that precalc (or more generally, "doing anything") is slow on C64 basic :-)
Regarding the first part, the paths for the first effect are precalculated during the text print (less boring than black screen, and actually doing some real maths!)
Once the effect is fully drawn, the paths for the 2nd one are calculated, while the first effect loops.
Delays in cube effect are due to setting up characters on the screen. - isokadded on the 2017-10-09 16:04:04
- demo Amiga OCS/ECS Kansainvalta by ISO
- Regarding "why no ASM" comment, this kind of prod wouldn't really need anything but music player, image (or anim) viewer, and simple amigados script. So, Amos definitely wasn't "the easiest way" in this case :-)
Also, this was done for (and AT) a party, where everyone must have a product in any compo, so there definitely was more effort done (considering each pic & music could have been entered separately)
Definitely not meant to be the winner, but perhaps get a few laughs out of the audience during the compo (which it did).
And rather than complaining about the quality of this particular demo, I'd complain about generic "lack of demos" in the whole compo :-) - isokadded on the 2015-11-24 16:06:59

- demo Amiga AGA Abuse by Dahlia & Monolith Resistor [web]
- As you probably know, this demoparty has a rule, that everyone must have an entry. Instead of doing a picture in photoshop and converting it to HAM, we coded a simple & crappy demo at the partyplace on my Amiga 600.
The second coder didn't have really any previous Amiga experience, so he has a good excuse for using absolute path instead of relative - at 8 AM we were too tired to notice this.
The problem was obviously noticed before the compo and fixed version created (which was shown), but for some reason, this appears to be the old one...
Also on faster systems, there's rather long pause between greetings & credits. Should have tested on faster system, but again, 8AM... - isokadded on the 2014-01-01 22:19:37
- demo Atari ST Second Reality 2013 by Checkpoint [web]
- This demo once again proves that you can do similar things with less capable hardware.
All effects in this demo are (and were in the past) perfectly doable on a mere Atari ST, you don't need a Commodore 64 really. - rulezadded on the 2013-11-11 14:27:32
- 256b Amiga OCS/ECS playback by Piru [web]
- This leaves SO much less space for the code than on f.ex. C64...
