256b.com down?

category: general [glöplog]
I've tried accessing this site in the past few days with no success. Is it having problems?

Indeed, the server hosting http://www.256b.com is down since a while. I'm working to re-live the site on another server until the host ( who does not seem to be in a hurry @__@ ) set up a new server.

Sorry.

256b.com have moved to a new server. It should take between 24 and 72 hours to propagate the new DNS.

Is the 256byte tiny intro scene still alive? Let's see at 0A000h..

Optimus: Pilgrimage 2003 had a 16 byte demo submitted.

Optimus: the sizecoding scene is alive and well, i can't wait 'til 0a000h, as there will be quite some quality releases.

I second [cryo]. I'm quite confident in the 0A000h to prove that. Alas its orgs do not accept email entries this year.

Good. I am planning to code something for the tiny size categories of 0A000h too, and visiting of course (most probably, there won't be any problems with my exams). I hope..

Still failing.
Why don't you just give us the IP?

Ok...I understand some of you people out there are concerned that 256b.com is down. As we speak Poi and I are redirecting the domain to another server and everything should be back to normal in a couple of days. Be patient fellas :)

www.256b.com is still down for me. I got the following message:

"Si vous voyez cette page, c'est pour une des raisons suivantes:

Vous avez demandι une URL qui n'a pas encore ιtι activιe. Solution: attendre l'activation de cette URL, cela ne saurait tarder.

Votre navigateur ne supporte pas le protocole http 1.1: Solution tιlιcharger un navigateur rιcent.

..but I think I got it from a netcafe. Perhaps it's just the network here in das RZ in the university. Another thing that I can't do here is to attach a file when I am using my yahoo.gr email address. It simply bugs for no apparent reasons :P

@__@ I've tried with IE3.0, LYNX 2.8.3, NN4.79 and it works. Do you have a proxy or a weird browser in your university ?

I had the message you pasted when the ALIAS was not operationnal, but it is since 2 days now.

Could you please guys tell me if you're behind a proxy ( or if your ISP have one ) or which browser/platform you use

At worst you can access 256b.com through its "physical" address that is http://256b.p01.org

i was more hoping for some info on why it is offline, like what is going on and stuff. ;)

(btw, i'ld hardly say that 256b.p01.org works... :) When you click a link, you get the "will be back" logo)

anyway, i expected the death toll would be bigger by now. good :)

From what I know: poi has forgotton to save the login data for 256b.com before he went to norway. He said he'll fix it during the christmas holidays.
Can somebody tell the TRUTH - when 256b.com will be back? That fundamental site shouldn't be inactive for so long time. Is there really serious problem?

The download links ( i.e. http://www.256b.com/download/402 ) works so it's transparent for pouet and any referee.

But as for the site itself, I have to plug in one of my old HDD to dig through my mails to fetch the login/pwd to upload the php scripts.

And contrary to what this thread might suggest the site has not been down since january 2004. But yes, it's been down for too long!
