suppose someone who didn't forget about inerciademoparty2005 would arrive around 23:05 on friday evening at porto airport- does he have any chance to make it to guimaraes? (without sleeping/waiting until the next morning i mean)

You can take the metro from the airport to the train station, but the last train from Porto to Guimarães is at 23:25, the first one is at 6:25. But maybe someone would give you a ride. There may be some buses, I don't know.

That sounds like a "no" :( I tried looking for a bus on stcp.pt, it tells me:

Now I know that delays are more rule than exception in some southern areas, but 254 hours for a 50km bus ride sounds somewhat excessive regardless :)

I suppose that'd leave me with a few less tempting options:
1- Rent a car (~40€)
2- Take an extra day off work and travel earlier (~€200)
3- Forget about Inerciademoparty2005 (~0€)
4- Rent a cab (~???€)

Any further suggestions perhaps...?

I don't know if I will go, as I might have work on Saturday afternoon, but if I do travel I will of course give you a ride - as you gave me countless times already. But for now it's a big if. I will know in a month or so.

Actually, I will probably make it happen, just because you're coming :)

also, got word that youth hostel listed is already getting fully booked for those dates, will look for more hostels close to party place and list them down on the party page soon. eitherway, we have industrial heater! thy shall not freeze to death in your sleep!

but in april it's already as good here as he gets in his summer.

ps, jeenio: cool! i will check with my boss if i can take an extra day off work, if that works out, i wouldn't be forced to take the evening flight and thus arrive much earlier in the day. more news when i have it :)

as for accomodations, i found two affordable hotels at walking distance from the party place that are well within budget range (ibis (which has internet) and dom joao iv (which looks/sounds less business-ish), so i'm not worried about that at all :)

im booked at d.joao iv myself. they say it's booking fast (people coming to town for the culture events)

OK, I booked a room at Dom Joao IV too now. Still todo: determining exact travel schedule and getting confirmation I can take the Friday off :)

DAMN! I have work on that weekend and can't take it off :(

OK I got everything booked now- flying in 19/4 at 22:35, then sleeping at a hotel (Ar-e-Sol) right in front of the airport so I'll have the entire friday to make it from OPO to Guimaraes (and maybe do some sightseeing/beerdrinking in between (suggestions appreciated)). Then 3 days/nights in Guimaraes at the party and sleeping in Dom Joao IV, and finally flying back monday 23/4 at 17:30.

I DIDN'T FORGET ABOUT INERCIADEMOPARTY2005 \o/
