Visting Helsinki, Filming 6502 Documentary
category: offtopic [glöplog]
Hello, everyone. Jason Scott, guy who runs textfiles.com as well as the previous guy running Blockparty, the US demoparty.
I've spent the last decade working on documentaries, including one on BBSes (www.bbsdocumentary.com) as well as GET LAMP, about text adventures. (www.getlamp.com).
I'm going to be spending the next couple of years filming three documentaries at once: on the medium of tape, the place of arcades, and the 6502 chip.
I happen to be in Helsinki from the 6th-10th of February, and I wanted to check in to see if anyone was up to being interviewed for the films. I can answer any questions about the production in here, or in email. (I'm jason at textfiles dot com).

do you need somewhere to stay?
You are, ofcourse, aware that the world's best oldskool demoparty takes place in nearby Gothenburg, Sweden at almost that exaxt time? I doubt you'll find more 6502 (or at least 6510) chips in the same room anytime in 2012.

"the previous guy running Blockparty"- what happened? or more precisely, when is it happening again?

"I think he can afford a hotel" :)
open goal :)
Hi, pushing this back up to the top. I'm here in Finland (hello!) and will be visiting the Hacklab on Tuesday night, and then filming all day Wednesday at the Hacklab. I'd like to interview anyone who's used a 6502 for coding or doing demo work, or anything related they'd like to share.
Maybe something like this could be interesting. It's a capture of myself coding some 6507 (a stripped down 6502). I'm thinking of making a more detailed follow-up video.
I'm in Sweden, not Finland, though.

hmm maybe jscott should do a documentary about bittin at some point.
>suggesting I "do a bittin"
Nah, I'd rather not. I'm enjoying not being stranded in a foreign country too much.

Perhaps your trip and stay can be paid for in full. I'm sure there's some fund left, somewhere.
@jscott: sent you an email :)
