lanyrd-ing sceners
category: general [glöplog]
I've decided it's about time the demoscene existed on lanyrd.com, so I've added a page for Revision.
For those who aren't aware of it, Lanyrd is a directory of conferences of all kinds, loosely tied in to Twitter handles so that you can keep track of what your friends and follow-ees are attending / speaking at / organising. I figured that:
1) demoparties are sort of like conferences, if you squint a bit (especially if they have seminars), and a site where we can keep track of visitors/seminars etc is a useful thing to have around (even if it partly exists already at places like demoparty.net);
2) there's a fair amount of crossover between demosceners and people-who-tend-to-go-to-conferences, and if those people start using Lanyrd more then there's a wider benefit in knowing who's attending what;
3) having more visibility in the wider tech/geek community is always good (I'm sure we all have colleagues who blatantly should be sceners but aren't, and maybe if they're using Lanyrd already and see a bunch of people they know attending a scene event, that might just swing it...)
4) Having interlinked data is generally neat and awesome because I have OCD and need to make lists of things.
If this sounds good to you, why not head over there and add yourself to the Revision visitors list, and/or set up pages for whatever other parties you're attending (making sure to tag them as demoscene)?

Just added BeRos talk to lanyrd.
now, if we just could cross demoparty.net with lanyrd :)
is it related to Lynyrd Skynyrd?
