Some scientists think men and women act the way they do (in general) based on genetics. Different breeds of dogs are known to have different general aptitudes and personalities so the idea that genetics can affect behavior is pretty much a given. How much it affects humans is still up for debate but studies of twins separated at birth as well as adopted children suggest there's still a big affect.

So, back to the topic. It's possible women (in general) are not as promiscuous as men possibly because it's in their genes. A woman who was promiscuous was actually less likely to have kids survive to reproduce because a man is less likely to care for and protect a promiscuous woman since odds are high he's not raising his kids but someone else's.

In other words it's possible evolution selected for men that want to fuck around and women that don't. (in general). Even if it's true there are always exceptions. But that's at least one theory.

On interesting slightly related data point. A study of gay men in San Francisco found that nearly 30% of them claimed to have had more than 1000 sex partners. Conversely less than 2% of lesbian women claimed more than 100 sex partners and none claimed 1000.

I don't know the specific studies but I got most of that from this.

Before I watched that I thought it was all nurture and was upset that more women didn't chose to be certain ways. But, if it happens to actually be nature then I have to change my approach.
