Plane9 realtime shader editor

category: general [glöplog]

A realtime cgfx shader editor exists in the program that some of you might have a use for. Also has a few nice intro shaders from a few production by IQ and FRequency that can now be enjoyed as multimonitor screensavers/music visualizers.

Grab it from here the webpage will be updated soon enough

Shader editor?
All I see are boxes!

Sorry, it does a bit more than just edit shaders

Start menu->Programs->Plane9->Plane9 Scene editor
On the window to the left scroll down until you see for example "ReliefTunnel". Double click that one.
In the main window you should now see the boxes your talking about I assume. You might need to pan to see the shader node. If so just hold down middle mouse button and drag. You should see a box called "Shader1". Click it.
Now in the window to the left you should see a bunch of properties. In there should the shader code be. Just edit away.

Seeing that you're making money from the Pro edition, have you asked the authors of the shaders you used permission? Not to mention that you don't seem to cite the authors of each shader.

They are credited in all placed I could.
If you open the editor and view the actual shader you will see that they are credited.
They are also credited in each scene description. This is shown in the configuration window and in the editor. Both using the handles and links to the webpages. I haven even credited that I found the shader in 'shader toy' and IQ cleaned it up and I used that shader. Not the original.

Xetick: Perhaps you should add a mention about who wrote the shaders at the website, right next to the screenshots/videos as well?

i havent tried it, but the name is kinda lame.
ok, so now i tried it. the render view remains black no matter which scene i click on. i suppose it's because my laptop doesn't support the shader versions you are using. could you make some kind of check for this and report the error?
is it some kind of quartz composer but mainly shader oriented ?
