Where to get SIO2PC?
category: general [glöplog]
So I've finally tracked down a 130XE that should be arriving soon.
Now, I want a SIO2PC so I can run some demos and stuff!
Where to get one? I've found www.atarimax.com, but it will probably end up rather expensive with customs and import taxes.
Are there any EU makers/retailers?
Also, the serial version is cheaper - does it work well with a modern PC with USB->RS232 dongle, or is it better to go for the more expensive USB SIO2PC from the get-go?

I've built one by myself. It's just an universal PCB (that one with holes) and some wires. You can find the scheme here:

The parts cost about 5-10 EUR.
It works with USB>COM dongle perfectly. I'm using it on OS X (with SIO2OSX.app) and it works. I tested it on PC through COM and also works.

I ended up going with the Atarimax USB version after all, that damn buy-it-now-button on eBay is dangerous stuff! :D
this thing is really nice to use, particularly with a registered copy of APE For Windows. beats the c64 method of having to write images to 5.5" floppy via a dodgy xe1541 cable link! :/
