Ok so basically the audience doesn't agree with the jury.

That's not true though. A lot of the audience agrees, a lot of the audience disagrees. As it should be.

the funny thing with panic room is that if it were 177k it would be best demo 2009.

@gloom: doing shortcuts :)
Zest, no thank you, I'm sick enough with Timbaland winning all MTV awards already. ;)

I'm not concerned about agreement and disagreement. I just think that if you have a jury of scene bigwigs they should say a little more about their choices than a paragraph.

Well, it's hard to justify your choices after the bank transfer from the nordic conspiracy.
:D

it's an annoying trend these days that people demand more than before. "we demand to see a xmas-version of Rob is jarig", "we demand that you fix that ati-bug", "we demand an online version", "we demand that the scene.org jury writes a full report about their decisions" etc. etc. Stop demanding already!

In the old days, you know what we did to people who demanded things? You wanna know, uh? huh? we took a big flopy drive and .. nah, never mind, you're not interested.

hyde: OH COME ON! we DEMAND to know!

Insectecutor: While I don't disagree, let me pose you the following question: if you end up disagreeing with the jury's decision on what will be "Best Demo 2008", will a longwinded and detailed explaination _why_ that prod was chosen matter to you at all?

So, while a oneliner isn't quite sufficient, I fail to see how a detailed list of arguments will do anything to change anything, apart from giviing people who don't agree a long point-by-point list by which to keep disagreeing.

Which, much like writing with a broken pencil, is completely pointless.

the more time I spend reading this thread, the more I feel uneasy about the fact that somewhere, someone is NOT reading this thread and spends his time coding effects. You know?

"Norwegian" from the X-Files. Friggin' amazingly bad pronounciation.

Hey, I like this thread :)

.. Especially since the more time people spend arguing on pouet, the less productions the jury get to consider.. win-win

My monitor is so fucked up that picture looks like an animated gif (I actually checked the file to make sure it wasn't)

haha,i´m reading this thread AND coding effects...nothing new tho :/
But seriously. I doubt a jury will ever be found that everyone agrees with. Especially in this case as the demoscene has a pretty broad view on what a "perfect production" is, in all the categories we have and don't have. Our jury is chosen to reflect that view, sort of an "extension of the people".

God knows I personally don't always agree with the jury. However, as the project manager of the whole thing, I obviously wholeheartedly support the jurys decision.

gloom, do they both have bad pronunciation? One of the men is supposed to be an American who moved to Norway. Anyhow, great episode!
