salinga, maybe this is helpful for you:
<GargajCNS>system k
<GargajCNS>i mean
<GargajCNS>or zeila
<GargajCNS>or even keyboarders
<Keops>GargajCNS: all those groups released before 2008
<Saga_Musix>heh true, Zeila's demo was great
<Saga_Musix>we should introduce a "best software-rendered demo" just for that :D
<Keops>they dont belong in that category or I dont get the point of this category
<GargajCNS>keops: so? breakthrough doesnt mean "first", it means "first notable" :)
<ggn>yep, that's breakthough for me

and of course, HBC
System K!

Always thought the breakthrough category was for newcomers, I learned something today :)

If so, System K and Zeila have my full support, Keyboarders too but the System K demo was really really nice.

leave it blank then ;)

Remember: the purpose of this selection to help the jury not to overlook prods;
don't pick demos/intros that are obvious choices, pick something you think they might to forget!

BTW. The Scene.org Awards website needs a rehash, but we don't have any web/gfx designer to do that right now. If you're interested in such a thing (the current content & main layout will remain, mostly new gfx + css needed), please mail us at awards-staff [at] scene [dot] org.

i may sound like a broken disc but where are we supposed to put 4k procedural gfx ? in 4k intro ? in most original prod ? next awards shouldn't forget those newcomer gems :p

up to the jury to decide whether they wanna include that.

my 2 cents is that 4k procedural gfx are simple graphics, not demos, so perhaps if you wanna create a series of awards for graphics (which might not be the worst of ideas), it'll get award.

indeed great idea, that would be also fair for other gfx/pixel compos :)

then again, there's no award for best graphic, best tune etc either (the standalone kind). i see 4k proc gfx as a coder's way of doing a graphic just like a graphician would do a thing in photoshop. my 2c.
feel free to create the demoscene Grammies :)

imho: iq & others have totally given visibility and awesomeness to that new category that can't be more demoish, it's time to acknoledge it!

If procedural gfx can compete, than procedural musics must be included too.

..and if procedural musics should be included, then Gameboy cracktros must be included too!

Entering stuff on the form at http://pouet.net/awardscandidates.php and submitting it doesn't seem to update the list for me... the form on the prod page works, though. Anyone else getting the same thing?
