Ok, why on earth doesn't pouet link to the demoscene.tv cap from a prod page, but DTV always links back to the pouet prod page from the capture, on the other hand Capped usually is linked from pouet but I like DTV more, not in the least because its HD mode is bigga' !!
pardon?

it's not really necessary to link to a dozen of pages which link to pouet...
well ofcourse it isn't, but for capped.tv, it apparently is, and I don't get it, why is capped.tv inexplicably priviledged in the matter when it doesn't even have the highest res?
It's all because of the panamerican conspiracy.

uhh the only reason i can think of is that demoscene.tv is usually a little slower to add new stuff because it's run by a limited number of ppl, many more have access to youtube, capped.tv, etc

i wouldn't object to adding demoscene.tv links to prods where it makes sense, feel free to post examples so we can start fixing.

(but make it valid examples and not like the one above, there already is a video link on that one)

there are some prods with demoscene.tv links, we add them as the requests come in, an automated form would be preferable though, maybe a cron job parsing a dtv rss feed.. was considered in the past but obviously hasnt been implemented yet.

Salinga : as Skrebbel once mentionned it, it would be a really bad idea imo.

It would encourage lazyness and a lot of people would eventually not download the binaries anymore and watch those demos only on a 25 fps 400x300 low res versions with compression artefacts.

Keops: I think this is already the case with the added links to capped.tv , demoscene.tv, video download link, youtube etc..

you gotta admit, he may be magic, but at least he's honest! :)

keops: then pouet should probably remove all links to youtube, because those caps are the crappiest both video and sound wise and no advertisement for demoscene.

Havoc, with that comment I assume you agree with me, which is good :P

added on the 2008-08-16 19:32:29 by magic magic
Salinga : what I mean is that having the video right there on the page will encourage people even less to download the binaries in the end.

1. right here on the page or one click away trough a link to capped, youtube, demoscene tv doesnt really make a difference for the end result.

2. links to videos which are not of high quality (what this is can be debated) could not be a good advertisement for the demoscene.

it's the emulator discussion all over again... :/

I think D.TV has a pretty decent quality for their flash player.

Unfortunatly the latest additions from Evoke have a crappy crappy sound - almost unwatchable.

Yes, it does. Showing a screenshot and two choices: "View video" or "Download demo" is not the same as clicking "Play" to watch a video of the screenshot you are looking at.

I disagree, and does it really matter if people are watching the binaries or not?
