About not getting any email: I definitely did send two emails to zineradioshow@scene.org (got the address from the podcast itself) and they didn't bounce back so I assumed they were received, read and ignored. Well anyway below is an idea dump I sent back in August, maybe pouet.net has guaranteed delivery unlike email.

---

Hello here are some topic ideas for the Zine podcast.

- An interview with a scener from a career perspective. Is the scene just a preschool for the games industry? For instance, one could interview ryg of Farbrausch for this.
- Aren't demos just ads? A graphician of Future Crew, "Pixel", became a successful music video, advertisement and short movie director. Perhaps he could be interviewed?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misko_Iho http://www.miskoiho.com/commercials.html
- The social worth of hobby tinkering and its relation to actual research. Could be based on this https://togelius.blogspot.com/2016/04/the-differences-between-tinkering-and.html
- Video vs. real time graphics. Was the demoscene simply an artifact of the 90s when realtime programs produced the highest visual fidelity, now beaten by online streaming platforms?
- Sampling and remixing. Everyone loves to bust "scene music stolen" but demos often imitate, sample and frankly rip off popular art.
- "Boomer shooters" such as Dusk, Ion Fury, Prodeus and the Quake re-issue are surging in popularity. This has invigorated the Quake modding community. Is something similar possible for the demoscene? See https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/quake-renaissance-a-short-history-of-25-years-o f-quake-modding
- Fantasy consoles and Linux demos: Does a demo need an immutable platform (from a regular demo nerd's perspective) to be interesting? A demo maker then conquers the force of nature represented by the platform. You can brag about reaching Mt. Everest's summit because everyone knows what the mountain is but if you could redefine what a mountain is before doing the hike then it would be just weird.
- Know Your Scene Meme: An episode where every single demoscene meme is exposed and explained.
- "That didn't age well." Which demos, styles or techniques were super impressive back in the day but are just cringe nowadays? Think Deluxe Paint reproductions of paintings of warrior princesses or 2005 dubstep. What the heck were those skating videos in wild compos?
- Reinventing the demoparty. What if there were no budget, scheduling or safety limitations, what would you change? Should parties be more like the Comiket convention where hobbyists can sell their work? Or have a more conference-like look where you could make your employer pay for your tickets to Revision? A collaboration with the Chaos Computer Club?

I just checked and I don't see any of those emails :(

cce: i‘m really sorry to hear that you sent something but didn‘t hear back. We are trying to figure out what happened there but I can tell you for sure that it would never happen that we outright ignore something. We would certainly get back to you in one way or the other. Thanks for posting the ideas, some sound really good. Thank you again, and apologies for this hiccup.

Btw, to all the other 2968 listeners who sent suggestions that you didn‘t hear back about, please post the ideas here. ;-)

I totally enjoyed that last episode of the year with the (now ex-)producers Gargaj and Gloom! It was really interesting to hear how the show came about technically and contentwise and I must say that all the effort you put in absolutely paid off in terms of quality throughout the whole season.

You might not get as much feedback now as you probably deserve but I think that most of the contents will be relevant in later days too. People who are new to the scene can with no hesitation be pointed to the podcast as a ressource that helps to get deeper into understanding the scene as a whole and its different topics.

Your discussion about a lack of in depth opinion in the scene (if I recap correctly) inspired me to become more active in our diskmag again.

Since you talked about people not using podcast fetchers, I personally use Castbox on Android and according to the statistics there, there are just 5 other ZINE-subscribers there which is really strange - indeed (cheers, Okkie).

I hope that all the other listeners (and there are a lot, I know it) will also hit those subscribe buttons and I wish all you guys and also those new producers all the best for 2022!

Episode 19 seems great. There's some weird glitch at about 6 minutes and 9 seconds when Okkie introduces Gargaj. Is there a version sitting somewhere without this? It's no big thing to me, I just thought I'd point it out.

Yeah I'm not sure why there would be a glitch in the edit when Okkie introduces the guy who did the edit. :thonking:

Note to self: don't attempt jokes when it's your last episode and one of the hosts thank you for keeping the podcast nicely edited and issue-free. :)

I enjoyed the glitch. You should do so too. Worship the glitch!

Ah, that was subtle :) I thought it was an effect of some videconferencing with questionable quality.

i guess that's a compliment to gloom, glitch so well produced it felt organic :P

Here we are! Welcome to Season 3 of the ZINE podcast, this month with guest melkor, talking about the UNESCO recognitions, why the demoscene deserves it and what it may gain from it.

And of course we introduce the new production team after the handover by gloom and gargaj, myself as producer, and the one-and-only lug00ber as editor.

Welcome, new team!
Will there be tea and drum'n'bass in the new season?
added on the 2022-01-11 10:57:29 by El Topo El Topo
If the hosts can't agree on a recording schedule date in a month, we can totally have lug00ber do a "my top 10 favourite teas and the best drum'n'bass tracks to go along with it" episode.

Number 5 will shock you!

(This is not an invitation for us to slack off, gents. Just sayin'. ;-) )

I don't think we can pay the license to play the music, so then it will be only tea.
