YouTube adds "Video Annotations" - time for us to add "making of"-notes to our demos? :)

Video annotations are a new way for you to add interactive commentary onto your videos!

You control what the annotations say, where they appear on the video, and when they appear and disappear. You can even link from an annotation to another YouTube Video, Channel, or Search result.

Blah blah blah. Capped 2.0 supports AUDIO COMMENTARY! ..if I ever feel like finishing it. ;p

Still, text annotations would be interesting. [And easier to do then audio commentary I suppose]

Hm....interesting feature for videos except for demovideos. I think the comments should not appear on the video itself, when we're talking demovideos. Destroys the aestetics in the demo, IMO...
I understood that you could turn it on and off while viewing. I believe it's off by default, though I could be wrong.

isnt it basically closed captioning?

I could write commentary but you'd never get me to make an audio comment track :)

Heh. I just tried this on Regus Ademordna, and it works pretty well! You can add notes, resize and move them around, as well as use your own timing for how long the notes stay on screen. Pretty darn cool actually :)

additionally, with both capped.tv and demoscene.tv being pretty awesome, i don't really see the point of youtube as an important thing for the scene. it's fun for showing stuff to the rest of the world, but that's about it.

I'm using this feature in a couple of videos, it's very nice and useful.
Especially for translation subtitles.

Err. For outreach, YouTube is really nice. The "stumble upon"-effect it has is great for promoting demos. Capped.tv and demoscene.tv is great for people who are already sceners (higher quality captures etc.) but YouTube is great for everyone else.

Not everyone cares about outreach, gloom ;)

kusma: I should have said "for getting more people to admire your leet coding skills" instead of "outreach" then :)

I'm waiting for youtube live. That can be useful for some stuff like covering riots live in Hungary and France... and of course be there when demoscene.tv isn't. Yes, streaming video is not that complicated, but having enough bandwidth is.

gloom: No, instead you should try less to fit the entire world into your mindset :)
