eventually, video of the compos will go up here:
http://www.notacon.org/media/

...the wilds are _really_ worth watching.

Question once people see the video: are all euro-parties MC'd as heavily as blockparty was? Or does everyone just know the routine and sit quietly while the orgas wrangle the prods and go from compo to compo?

gb: that differs from party to party, but usually there is a host to announce things yeah.

Garg: thanks. The assembly video feed always just seemed to be orgas screaming 'turn off all lights and sound!' in their moon-language.

Is it unusual that I do so much announcing? I do so to keep the audience interested, since they weren't a strict demoscene audience. I also give context for what we're seeing and what efforts have been put into it.

As for the releases, we had an issue with the FTP site, and that's being resolved shortly.

I should remind the European people that the US landmass is freakin' huge... it sometimes takes a day or two of driving to get home from something like this. So don't be surprised if the wrap-up takes longer than European parties.

jscott+gargaj+gb It was once commented to us by an actual MC (from a well respected ragga group in marseilles) that he would seek to enhance demoparties with more interactivity and MC intervention .. having the host going in the hall on occasion and hype/ask up what people are working on etc ;)

I did not really know if I wanted it when he described it, though it was intriguing.

jscott: At the event, in the moment, it makes absolute sense and it's completely necessary and sufficient lubrication and _damn_ you keep the heckling bastard hacker fucks in their place. Especially last year!
It's just weird seeing your mug talking for like 90% of the video.

I wouldn't want any MC intervention when I'm coding or doing whatever I might doing. Some kind of organized show/action/whatever would be cool though.

yesso: i dunno, at Function we upload the releases immediately after the compo, just like at Breakpoint, it's really not that much of a job :)
