it being in best direction while there is none is indeed rather hummm :)
there is some nice camera work on the city scene but the whole rushed slap in filler effect thing kinda ruins it big time

ps: fortunately demos (and even demo direction) are about more than camera movements and transitions. quality graphics, rendering and effects (and yes, some people besides you really like the soundtrack as well), graphic design and visual style actually do matter to some people. :)

it may not quite be more than the sum of it's parts, it's not a perfect demo to be sure, but i personally would rather have some good parts to be summed than a pile of mediocrity with "good direction! (tm)". :)

anyway, i dont want to sit here defending something i worked on. :) the fact is, debris and lifeforce make everything else look pretty bad anyway, so complaining about the rest of the spots is a bit of a pointless exercise.

What? People _disagree_ on what makes a good demo? Well, gosh me, I never..!

isn't that what this thread is about? i don't see how discussing demos is a bad thing.

smash: i'm not advocating replacing the nomination with better mediocrity, but lets be honest about things, media error doesnt deserve to win any of the categories apart from maybe graphics and effects, if it doesnt stand a chance and its getting nominated elsewhere, some remodelling wouldnt hurt instead of hyping this thing like it's something you guys actually spent months working on.

regarding the pointless exercise and setting aside my bias over the neglect of 828: that seems to have been the logic applied for the best soundtrack nominations atleast. quite depressive to look at with all due respect to the soundtracks listed and the efforts of the jury members.

I liked Media Error.

828 and media error shine together at both end of the spectrum.

I have to say that I agree with PS (wtf?) - although I did not enjoy 828 at all, a lot of people did and the jury really should have included it.
However, leijaa's comment still makes sence - now, go and vote for it in the Public's choice award, if you like.
Sense, even. (Ah, fuck it...)
