GUSemu question

Hi,
I try to test some old MS-DOS trackers with GUSemu, but some have problems:
FastTracker 2 - No Sound
TakeTracker - Sound, but totally out of timing (pattern 2 displayed, but pattern 1 is still playing)
UltraTracker - No Sound
somebody knows a small "how-to" run these trackers with almmost good sound emulation??

Suggestion: What if you use DOSBox?

To be precise, GUSemu is mainly intended for intros and demos using various loosely timed CPU-time preserving GUS players whereas most trackers have a quite strict and rather CPU hoging playing routine which are usually way too tight for the NT/W2k/XP-based DOS emulation.
Thus, without proper timing provided by the OS there is no chance to get a proper timing out of the whole emulation (windows provides a minimum timing in the range of a few milliseconds which is about 10 times too slow).
A complete hardware emulation has a better chance to do it right, but emulating a 100MHz machine with nanosecond-perfect simulation of timing is usually too much as well, thus an emulator like DOSbox will also likely run into timing problems (depending on the machine speed).
Another try might be using GUSemu under Win9x - interrupts work way faster there, however the overall multitasking quality and memory protection is pretty weak there. Thus, sometimes it may work better than under NT/2k/XP, and sometimes it might just mess things up.
You might also try the QEMU version with GUSemu patched into it

TakeTracker was a early MOD-based multichannel tracker like Fasttracker... TakeTracker is based on MOD format only (1 - 16 chans), and has a Protracker style Interface...

Wow - you learn something new every day! I'd never heard of Take Tracker...first time I've seen such a convincing Protracker-style layout on the PC.
El Burro - I totally appreciate your wanting to run a specific oldschool tracker as it was meant to be etc. (and a lot of people I know have old 486 hardware boxes solely dedicated to Fasttracker II) but don't forget about Milkytracker - the best software for tracking XM on a modern PC.
