Don't kill the kittens!

Someone should make the most random random number generator based on geiger noise or something really indeterminable.

Or this:

"A random number is never zero" is true, if by random number you mean "a number that could be any imaginable number".

a uniform random number between -1 and 1 is also never zero. no matter if you see zero yourself. it hasn't happened.

it's also intriguing to know that any outcome of such a generator is impossible. you get the chills after the first trie.
Nah, that only means such a generator is theoretical. An outcome from a generator like that could not be represented by less than an infinite number of digits. So, an infinitely fast computer with infinite storage could produce a random real number in an undefined amount of time, a number which it could not have produced. Doesn't really blow my mind.

ID: Such a generator:
Real part of the phasor representation of normalized difference voltage between two independent (battery charged!) voltage sources. Not discrete at all if time is not quantized. It is never zero! Never 1/pi also.
It does matter if you measure it or not of course. Zero only happens if a measurement is involved. But again it shouldn't have.
Fun shit.

I have to add that the anes random number generator running for infinite time (so generating infinite random numbers) will never generate a 0.

Oh, what a world the world of alephs!

Optimus what would be the right thread for that declaration :)
A random thread.

linde: Atmospheric noise is pretty much giger noise since it's generated by cosmic radiation. Turn on your AM radio to a dead frequency. There you have it, pretty random I'd say.

ah, then i can sleep well knowing that my random numbers are truly random (until some physicist finds away to predict atomic decay)
