planet-d.net is back online with a new ip: 195.68.250.91

please update your domains.

to sum up the downtime:

. several hardware failures among which the loss of an hard drive with all its data :(

. ip routing and tunneling weirdness

issue n°2 was the one pending for the last months

from now, situation should hopefully improve

regards,
guardian
update your domains with 195.68.250.91 and 195.68.250.92 dns servers
I know this is horribly ironic, due to the recent downtime of Scene.org, but perhaps it would be a good idea to mirror at least gfxzone.planet-d.net at Scene.org? People go bananas when GFXZone is down.

actually, there are plans to create a somewhat new gfxzone like 'pouet for pictures'. tho, they need to team up imho:

- alien^bf wants it on his bitfellas gallery (tho, i prefer it to be a dedicated place, not some subsection of a scene portal)
- guardian wants to revive gfxzone itself in a new fashion since he can access the planet-d one.
- reko wants to revive gfxzone also (so ive heard from garg, havent spoken to him about that yet)

as i told guardian, count me in, but let's not waste our efforts on pursueing multiple ideas at once and team up i'd say.
gonna dump it

i believe in planet-d whatever people might think

if it's down again, i'll upload the dump somewhere, sounds good ?
untergrund is a fine pick for that.. but let's do that 'pimping up' first ;)
well not exactly maali

i had the plan to contact gfxzone's account owner without success

so gfxzone.planet-d.net will remain frozen forever, which does not mean something else cannot be created
So, just WGET the hell out of the site and start over. :)

thank you for the kind words oxb
Planet-d is down again :/

Please get a real server so I can log on with my old account again.
what was your account name
I am looking into it as we speak (please bear with me as it's probably in one of my oldest notebooks).
Is there a chance it ever works again someday or should people consider moving to another host at last ?

then again planet-d prolly still has php3 and the obligation to +x all the php scripts :) (if it "has" anything at all anymore)

the person in charge of renewing the domain got contacted
there is an issue with the renewal (like contact info lost etc ...), one more email has been sent today in order to clear the situation up; and we should get an answer withing 24 hours

this is all i can do for now, apart from bugging him on irc which isn't something i want to do too often and won't make the renewal happen any faster

now, feel free to bash and/or move to some other host
Guardian : bashing != question though :)

keops > agreed
it's back, just so you know
btw i didnt mean to bash - i think everybody agrees to the cool stuff planet-d has allowed the scene to get. including pouet, noerror, shiploads of cool group sites, etc. i just thought it was more dead than it, apparently, is - sorry about that one. and good luck with it!

dudes,

http://twitter.com/#!/planetdnews

everybody knows the planet-d debacle. still it has served ppl well for a while and a few bunch are still using it

past planet-d issues:
- HDD crash around 2005, accounts got lost, we can't power up the HDD
- previous admins don't have connection to the scene anymore which lead to multiple domain name renewal delays
- domain renewal issues: network solutions were bitches
- a box were security updates were not done in time, lead to numerous attacks

SOOOOO, I got back the domain name, and I'm moving planet-d ashes to a new box I'll keep up to date

WHY? really I don't know, just for the sake of it
I know people moved to self hosting or untergrund (cheers scamp & all), anyways I'll do my best to handle it
big up mate
