Anyway don't assume that cause the US is broken and has an absurd idea of what "freedom" means, then capitalism is evil. The US is to capitalism what the USSR was to communism. And Steohawk seems to be talking about Libertarianism which is something else.

Secondly, and without meaning offence, you flamboyantly miss my point:) I'm sorry you didn't click the link simply because it has 'steohawk' in the URL, because its demented contents are quite central to this discussion...
Of *course* what I pasted in those quotes has nothing to do with US politics, hence my allusion to the fact that despite Steohawk's astonishing stupidity, he's not representative of the wider, intelligent US population. However, I suspect that the root of Steohawk's fundamental misconceptions lies in the way the tabloid press in the US (and the world over) butcher the news into sensationalist headlines. I don't assume, either, that the US is broken. The US/USSR thing is something I would take issue with... I would consider the USSR to be symptomatic of a gross misapplication of an ideology a) too complex to be managed by its own proposed structures (arguable) and b) reliant (if we're to accept what Marx wrote) on WORLD capitalism in order that it can exist. The US relationship with Capitalism is vastly different, since without any doctrinal basis, modern Capitalism has simply built on the foundations of European businesslike tradition. That's rather off the topic, but I discuss it really to try to move past Capitalism/Communism as a paradigm for ideological adversity: I suspect it's infinitely more complex than that, and that the notion is lazy relic of the Cold War.
Finally, I'm not saying that Capitalism is evil. I might speak bluntly about it; I might evoke the Machiavellian logic with which it's practiced, but I'm careful not to moralise on issues of human nature. 'Avarice' is a loaded term, so 'self preservation' will do. Capitalism is a certain kind of cold, Darwinistic, common sense. But then so is everything we do... I had something really cool to say - a really hard-hitting, succintly-made point - but I've forgotten what it was and I think I'm going to go and have a wank.
Extra-finally, if I become convinced that Steohawk could reliably spell 'Libertarianism' without assistance, I'll agree that maybe he *does* have something hitherto unnoticed to say about it, rather than that he's suffering from Fox Corp-induced synonomialism and brain-rot.
