team startup

fr0zen and I are starting a new team... we saw a pretty good group using the OgreSDK, so we looked around and decided we liked Irrlicht. We've written a sortof layer above Irrlicht to handle timeing, and switching scenes and such, and are working on a BPM synch, to sync scene changes and effects to music.... problem we're having is, with my new job, i'm swamped and dont have time, and probably not the creativity, to make our scenes.... we're looking for someone interested in putting together a few scenes using irrlicht's scene editor.

the team that used OgreSDK got kinda dissed for using an external engine, but not to much... the way i see it is, alot of groups use the farb tools, and such, when they didnt write the tool, so it shouldnt be different if i use irrlicht.... also, after a couple prods, we're planning on writing our own engine from scratch, but we want to use irrlicht as an oppertunity to see how it all comes together (we also got a few really good books on gfx)

anyways, if anyone is intersted in doing modeling, texturing and or scene editing, hit me up on this thread or email me

I should probably mention the styles we're lookin for hehe... We're looking for a hip hop'ish graffiti style, or something 50's bombshell (like fallout's pipboy) ... if a fusion between the two could be pulled off, that'd be best, but that seems a stretch.... so, i guess whatever we find first is the direction we'll take... . we wont be sticking to that forever though, prolly change it up after 3 or 4 successfull prods

That's what the scene needs. Another boring flyby.

That's what the scene needs: More young groups.

I am concerned about the "hip hop" style though..

Emperor, Stealthz, Dandelion, whatever: and you're the exemple of what the scene DOESN'T need, people who just can't stop talking and giving advices, whereas they never produced anything at all.

xteraco^EnToX: that said, just go with the style YOU like and what you feel like doing.

that's what the scene needs - more people who dont exactly overproduce themselves, telling people they dont agree with what other people havent even done yet.

Keops: I am quite immune towards your grumpy ranting. Just go on.

Its not my fault you live in a wannabe-european exile with too much free time.

Dead Stealthz, Dandelion, Emperor, whatever next nickname you will pick,
It's not about me or ranting, it's about you always telling the people what the scene needs. Also, read what Smash wrote, in case you did not understand.

"too much free time", says one of the biggest Pouet trolls, spending his days talking shit on the BBS and the oneliner, funny guy.

As for free time, if we did not have any there would be not demos at all, so go enjoy a nice cup of STFU, lamer :)

I'm gonna toddle off to the bar where Gargaj is getting a beer and grab some shots :)

Well, there is also the "pouet is distracting me from my serious work" way of posting on pouet. Its bad. I need an IP filter.

xernobyl should thank me for taking all the blame.

xteraco: Don't worry about what people say if you use another engine. What counts is that you go out there, experiment, come up with ANYthing, and kick everyone in the nuts by actually releasing something, contrary to most people on here. :)

And personally speaking, I'd love to see a hiphop demo even though I don't like hiphop music. But it spawn some interesting results. Like I said, go and experiment. I wish you all the best. o/

thank you...

What I meant was something like: using game oriented 3d engines usualy results in boring flybys.

i'm off to the pub as well and whilst we consume some beers we can discuss some nice hiphop graffiti style/50's bombshell concepts for our future productions!
yet another flamebait thread, yet another keops intervention calling someone a lamer for speaking their mind. coincidence?

keops is just really good in biting flamebaits. And sometimes he even bites if its not even a bait.

and yet another ps not missing the opportunity to try to piss me off, defending a regular troll/lamer that he himself once tagged as "annoying user" a long time ago already.

Funny how people can be publicly bitter 3 years later when it originated from personal matters and different point of views :)

Emperor: not my fault, ever since I joined the demoscene, I never liked those I-tell-you-how-you-should-do-stuff-but-I-never-did-any-myself people

keops: im just remarking a notice of something that i already explained to you by email. i can asure you i wont be remarking such things plenty more often. if you can't get a hint nows the time to visit the clueshop.

about the hip hop music, i dont think it'd be the the best idea for what we're wanting.... something with a good beat, maybe somethin DnB. I actually write a lil music, so, i might be able to put somethin together.... my Juno D says its got a few idea's

Anyways, 3d flyby's arent what we're going for (even though they can be quite good imho), but, as said, it is a game oriented 3d engine, wich is why we dont plan on using it indefinately. our plan is to use it for a few prods, learn what we like about it, and what we dont like about it, then start on our own (if time allows)... our own engine would definately be a bit more demo friendly...

at the end of the day, we just want to all have fun together doing what we like, if the prods suck, they stay with us, if we make something nice, it'll prolly make it to pouet, ya never know....
