Call to atari sceners

category: general [glöplog]

If you are the owner of a falcon with a 060 accelerator, and willing to come with it at Numerica, could you get in touch with me? Mucho gracias!

skrebbel is right, we'll be there.. but the last ~5 times we went to a party, we didn't bring a ct60 falcon (they're kindof fragile). i wonder what it is needed for? there's only very, very few ct60 demos and applications out there, and everything that's remotely interesting is also available as decent quality videocaptures (i'd be more than happy to bring those, ofcourse).

I think he has a new demo for it :)

(Or he wants to play that vocal pong game..)

nosfe: there is no falcon emu working properly

nosfe: ...to be precise there is NO real falcon emulator at all. Don't comment if you don't know your stuff.

ltk_tscc: Is there any Falcon emulator at all, even if it's not working properly?

- hatari (the only publically released attempt at a real falcon emulator, still under heavy development)
- aranym (doesn't pretend to be a falcon emulator as such, but it runs a few falcon demos without sound)

okkie, Actually not! Maybe I'd wish maybe I don't, in any case, I would bring my own hardware then. Anyway, someone replied to me :)

To be really precise, there is a cvs build of Hatari v.0.9.1 with experimental F030 support which half-emulates it, (no DSP and no sound.) The next 'official' release of Hatari is still a little way off, but keenly awaited :-)

I do have a Falcon '060, but as I'm not going to the party, can't help, unfortunately.

Just out of curiosity, how many '060 Falcons exist in the world?

From memory and without resorting to counting on fingers, probably slightly less than three hundred. The original production run was 150, with several smaller batches following since. I got mine in the first big batch :-)

It is all the work of one hardware designer, there are two major variants, the CT60, the original design, and a slightly cost-engineered later variant, the CT63. Of course, you can get several differences in how the boards are set up, according to the boost tolerance of the '060's used, casing and cooling arrangements etc, quite a few have the rare 'Revision 6', 060 where you can get those fabbo speeds up to 100 mhz, and/or whether a bus speeder is used for the Falcon or not.

A high proportion, but not all of these went to people you would call sceners. Some people own more than one, (A CT60 and CT63 in the same household for example.)

Wow, I thought there were even less of 'em :) Thanks for the detailed answer.
