Demos in Flash the future ?
category: general [glöplog]
Flash 9 is comming and we saw, it's possible to "code" complete demos inside it.
Indeed very oldskoolish but sometimes very styleish.
With MDM Zinc Tool it's possible to convert your Flashfile to an application for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, PPC and more. MDM Zinc has an own scriptlanguage too and its possible to make your flashfiles ready for direct x and joystick support for flash games/demos etc.
wanna test it ? http://www.multidmedia.com
Maybe a way to realize some prods like musicdiscs, intros and small demos without any knowlege of c++ / assembler. :)
And don't forget... MODs can be played too in flash now :)

Huh?
Programming in flash is no different from programming in any other platform. There are already some demos written in AS 3.0, and they're most definitely "coded". All programming languages are trivial, the difficulty is knowing what to do.

ah yes.. as 3.0 is new i know... but i don't know much about it.... only know the old as a bit...
but is it possible create applications for all plattforms allready with as3 ? don't know much about it... :)

You shouldn't forget that you've got to pay to use flash, while there are great free compilers.
hm... ok thats the only bad thing on it... flash includes the tool. but photos needs tools too hm? making demos needs a pc... or amiga... cost much money :) but finaly you're right... coding don't cost much money... just a text-editor and "los geht's" :)
You can do demos for free on a PC if you have a PC that comes with windows... (most come)
What about the best 3D engine for Flash?
...its OpenSource too :-D
Check out some demonstrations...
Sadly, its not released yet....

cool !!!
flash demos sounds nice
xernobyl, to play the picky game, you don't need windows to code demos and it's never free, you pay for it. you just dont see the cost.
It's better not to see than see it. And yes you can use linux...
flash demos have been the future for almost a decade now, i guess that makes it one of the most promising demoplatforms out there (ahem)
Here's some cool flash demos http://www.pouet.net/party.php?which=1333
havoc: it actually all makes sense if you read some other threads ;)
I guess one can soon expect a thread such as "Demos in Java the future ?"

i felt a sudden urge to open one, but i'm too lazy for that.
