probably, can't say for sure. Does it matter if it's allegro or sdl or direct draw or anything else?

i dont know if it matters really.... I'm not to sure about SDL's SW rendering capabilities vs Allegro's SW rendering capabilities.. I asked around about wich was faster at one time, and just got told to figure it out myself. I'm just looking around to see if its "acceptable" in the scene, to release a demo coded in allegro (as i have one around 75% completed).

it'll be considered "acceptable" if it shows visible and/or audible sings of "quality" and "effort"... i guess.

I'd use SDL and I'm using it.

so what's wrong with that option?

xteraco: none of them will ever be a bottle-neck in a software rendered demo, as you'll spend 90% of the cpu-tume filtering textures and plotting pixels.
