No SEGA Saturn demos?

category: general [glöplog]

I just checked the production archive and was surprised not to find a single Sega Saturn demo. The console should actually be a nice ddemo platform. It has two CPUs and rudimentary 3D capabilities waiting to be exploited. Also, replication of demos should be easy as the console comes with a CD drive.

and it's the latest in the series of people telling other people what they should be working on, so that they can sit back, do nothing, and be entertained.

How about: if you want a Saturn demo, go make one!
Indeed. It's both easy and fun to pick up platforms. Admittedly it's easier for some than others ;)

Well, truck, first of all your comment invokes some kind of funny self reference paradox.

And other than that I just discovered the Saturn myself and wanted to share may excitement.

Please poeutize now..

Actually the Saturn is quiet a bitch to code. Especially if you don't have the official devkit and included software-stuff!

As even professional softwarehouses couldn't make full use of the two main CPUs (most of the time) and also the whole 3D stuff was pretty much "glued" onto an already finished system the whole system is really really fucked to code for.

At least that's what i heard from a guy that coded games for the Saturn (and also what you can see from the available homebrew-apps/games).

and no proper way to synchronize the cpus... and broken "blending".. and quadrendering instead of triangles..

ok, I want one!
is there any usable emulators available? it could be interesting platform to code for, but i don't want to buy saturn and action replay/whatever before even trying to code some simple things for it.
