..and don't forget to come to inérciaDemoparty2006 (26sep-1oct)

about inercia'06:

it's just a pity to see so many good conditions wasted in a gigantic fiasco. the big flop happened for various reasons: lack of advertisement, overshadowing by a unsuccessful lan party, location, lack of communication between organizing teams and lack of alchohol and drugs. and i'm sure ps can name more and more reasons, but these were the most obvious.

when i was in the organizing team, we had a common goal: make a cozy party. you know, don't go big if you can't. from the moment we were going to give "the big leap" i was afraid that a) we would become a lan party or b) we wouldn't have attendees and the party would fail. actually, i'm happy it was the latter. though i was really frustrated to see those lame ass gamers making noise during demoshows.

ps told me he would never organize a demoparty again. i hope he change is mind, cause i love to organize cozy demoparties with him. we may not have many visitors, but we do have fun. i'm sure shash, rob, mauge and the other guys enjoyed our party in 2005, even if it was organized in 1 week - the free beer may have helped a bit.

in conclusion: the scene is dead. and in portugal, it wasn't even really born, was it? our first demoparty was in 2000 and it was already too late. so why bother to go big? just try to organize a couple of events (YES, MORE THAN ONE, YOU FUCKTARDS - you know who you are, even though you never read pouet) which have low attendance but high degrees of interest. and, who knows, maybe one day your cousin or cousin's friend wants to join and learn something... and the rest is history.

and yes, drinking beer from the tap was indeed the highlight, after the FANTASTIC jam session with slack, evil, xernobyl and the other guy - anyone got his name?

About the publicity part: I've seen a comercial no TV! It was the first time I saw "demoparty" written on a TV channel, and I also saw a lot of posters at that big chain of computer stores, and on some newspaper: I refuse to think that the lack of publicity was a cause for the lack of success.
Maybe the spamming thing... the so called "Inércia effect"... "AND DON'T FORGET TO COME TO INÉRCIA DEMOPARTY 1999!"

With that I agree... specialy when you get to the town (vilage? :D) and try to ask for directions and the person you asks laugths and say you're teasing her because you and the guy next to you in the car are both wearing a red shirt.
