Codex Alpe Adria 2006 - exhibition & demo compo!

category: general [glöplog]
As seen in SNN, here is the announcement of a small italian multiplaform event which will hold a compo. Remark the prizes of the compos (Original C65 prototype for the oldschool compo and a C-One devkit :)
This is the second year Codex has a demoscene section, even if the organizers are long time demoscene friends - and were at BP this year...
They are really devoted to create a nice opportunity to meet and share!
Support would be really appreciated I think ;)

It willl take place in the Udine area, located just outside Venice, between beaches and the Alps, is not only a great place for vacation, or to explore the rest of Italy, but it is also well-connected via budget airlines, with its three airports within a one-hour drive. The new venue, a small school converted to conference center, has ample open air space and supports sleepovers (hotel rooms are also available). Among the prizes for winning demo productions are an Original C65 prototype and a C-One development system.

Jens Schönfeld (Individual Computers, you probably met him at Breakpoint and other events) and Bernd Schmidt (original author of the UAE Amiga emulation software) just confirmed their attendance at the event. There will also be other software and hardware developers making announcements about new projects and releases. Of course we'll do a lot of socializing, too.

Good red wine ("vino"), hard disk throwing Olympics, great pizza and pasta at Ciccio's, a banquet on Saturday, and much more to tempt you... :-)

Codex Alpe Adria 2006 Update (http://www.0xaa.org/)

Codex Alpe Adria 2006, the friendly alternative computing event, will take place in five weeks in Udine, which is within a one-hour drive from three airports, as well as from the Alps, beaches, Venice, Trieste, Austria, Slovenia and other beautiful locations. Florence, Milan, Salzburg and other popular tourist destinations, as well as major shopping malls (open on Sunday), are within easy reach, also for day trips from the event.

Jens Schönfeld (developer of fine C64 and Amiga hardware) and Bernd Schmidt (author of the UAE Amiga emulation software) already confirmed their attendance, while other familiar retrocomputing and demoscene personalities are finalizing their plans. It has become known that several software and hardware developers plan to make important product announcements during Codex Alpe Adria 2006. This is your chance to meet these legends in person. Cloanto's Amiga staff will also be there, as they are behind the event.

The new Codex Alpe Adria venue, conveniently located next to the Udine north highway exit, has ample open air space, resident WiFi, and supports sleepovers (rooms are also still available at the official hotel, which is in the city center next to the train station, and is connected by bus to the event). Prizes of the Codex Alpe Adria demo competitions include a rare and very valuable C65 prototype and a C-One development system. Other activities include pizza and pasta at Ciccio's (followed by traditional Codex Alpe Adria absinthe) on Friday, a Friulian banquet on Saturday, a hard disk throwing contest, and numerous excursions.

Great flight connections are still available at bargain prices. For example, GBP 1.79 (plus taxes) can buy you a ticket from London Stansted (STN) or Frankfurt Hahn (HHN) directly to Udine/Trieste (TRS) airport. Other flights by Ryanair, MyAir and other airlines for which it is still very convenient to purchase tickets are listed in the By Air (http://0xAA.org/byair/) section at the Codex Alpe Adria site.

Thank you for your kind consideration and support.

Your Codex Alpe Adria Team

Ehehe, keep up che good work boys!

Purtroppo, nonostante sia italiano, non potrò venire, dato che mi separano quei simpaticissimi 1200 km di strada :(.

Sorry for the italian language.

Amazingly, it's cheaper to reach it from UK than from southern/central Italy.
Change our geography and we'll maybe have a demoscene :D

ryanair.com
http://myair.com/ notice the green/white/red pizza theme
AirOne
Trenitalia.com

Probably in order of convenience. A minibus or lifts should be arranged for people arriving in Trieste airport (served by Ryanair).

Teaming up for a car is another good solution; if anyone is considering visiting from Germany, it's possible to get you in touch with other zermans who will attend for sure.
