I wasn't, I decided to post a thread to get involved with you guys when drunk one night (yep, even though I can't prove it, it's true).
As I said, I've been a fan of the scene for years now and I've only just decided to say hello.
Is this how the scene is supposed to greet newcomers and onlookers?, with contempt and disdain?

back in the days of the early demoscene there wasn't a huge industry(game,etc,etc) that sucked up everyone with talent.
i mean cncd,orange,triton,future crew,melon,dcs, you name it, all those people that broke some new ground are in the gamebiz or elsewhere.
a prime example is the quality of the swedish scene. it's almost an exact inverse of the general state of economics in sweden.
and i have a feeling that it's roughly true for finland aswell. dunno about other countries.

Whizz: Italy must be the richest country in the world then. Umm, no... I guess it's about newbies. It's natural top grow up, finish school and get into the biz, which cuts a lot of your spare demo time. If newbies are more into online roleplaying or console games, then of course the amount of releases and the quality itself drops dead.
