TUM?

category: general [glöplog]
[quot]perhaps a little bit earlier... and not delayed at 2 or 3 O´clock in the morning...[/quot]

sorry that I can not understand your arguments. Firstly, we didn't have too long delays for our competitions and secondly we replayed the compos, that were held during the night (except the wild compo, if i remember right). All the graphics-compos got replayed for the compensation of daylight and the fixed-style tracked music compo was replayed for being played so late (after some complaints). Also, all the music-compos were available via the party internal icecast stream (advertised on the bigscreen).

About the beer:
You should give out complete crates only anyway.

Ok, we'll consider lowering the deposit next time: 1 Euro per bottle should be enough.

That would be reasonable (As I recall, this was the fee you guys charged last year). Drop the need for tokens and it would go from reasonable to awesome ;)

Welll I was just one of the few without a computer there.
Then on the other hand you delayed the democompetiton announced at the big screen at 0h00 for 1 and a half hour with a comment like "we delay.. because we do..." after all demos there it was 3 o´clock and some minutes. hard enough to get the patient to vote instead of sleep (after two day party ;) ) but the votings stopped at 9:09? I saw more than a pile of people giving their wristband to others to let them vote and to get their sleep.

And the music compo in the first night was delayed a FEW hours (hm not really much at 3 or 4 at the morning or what?) and AT the next day you say you will replay them. (that was something I didn´t hear or read on the big screen at the night before as I was waiting to hear the tunes.. )

Competition delays happen.

Regarding the voting deadline: Yeah, this is something the TUM organizers should improve on - I also saw a lot of angry people in the morning who realized that the deadline was over when they wanted to vote. As this is electronic voting, the deadline probably also could have been set to something like 11:00 or so, so more people got a chance to vote...

But all in all these are very minor issues compared to what a great party TUM05 has been - for me it simply was the best TUM by far.

anyone complaining about delays with the compos should try to organise a few of them by themselves before saying anything. i give a huge respect for anyone who can hold a compo in time.

Ah yeah I must say it was a great TUM. I enjoyed it very much and it became one of my favourite parties. And Kudos for having the balls to try to improve things and invent something like the vector compo and/or the "high/mid/low" categories. I still think it's a good Idea. Confusing a bit, but... :D

Well, first of all - we had to delay the Demonight because of the two Fun-Competitions we thought up during the party. In my opinion, that was totally worth it.

I wonder when all the sceners became such wussies who have to get their 8 hours of beauty-sleep every night :)

Compodelays happen, and they happen for a reason. Normally that reason is not the organizers fault but non-running entries or exotic hardware. Also, some groups asked for much more time to finish their demos *cough*blackmaiden*cough* ;)

As for the voting deadline. It's kind of a tradition, that the tUM-Voting closes at 9:09 and we never had any complaints about that (AFAIR). But we'll keep it in mind and will change it this year.

nosfe... I did organise a party back in 1992 (I know the Arise Sun´n Fun Conference was a different thing, but it was hard in its own way) and even get it possible to make competitons in time ;P. It was meant as small constructive critic and yes I was having a good time there.

BTW. Nosfe did you know that Salmiacki (right written?) in germany is called "Kettenfett" ? ;D
