Party vs. Party

category: general [glöplog]
This topic is neither meant as a party war nor as a BP or TG, it's about two smaller (than the large ones) parties, Buenzli 14 and Slach 6. Both will happen in Augst, from 18/19th till 21st.

I was at Buenzli last year and would love to come back, but I haven't visited a french party yet, so Slach would be an option. On the other side it seems to me, without any French skillz I won't have that much party feeling like on regular "international based" parties.

What were your impressions of that parties in the last years, what other french parties are worth a visit (for a non French speaker)?
considering your whole party experience consists of hanging out with other sceners, having a drink, maybe doing some orgacrew work, you'll hate a french demoparty :)

and don't forget to come to demozone!!

skrebbel: admit it, you don't like french parties just because the french won't allow you to toss their french salads ;)

demozone and [http://scene-event.dk]scene event[/url] originally had overlapping dates and the poorly informed also imagined mfx&kewlers would be held in the same weekend.

party vs. party vs. party!

MadenMann : you come too late, all the big french partys are now dead (Saturne, volcanic, VIP, LTP, StateOfTheArt/SOTA ...)
and other small partys seems to be dead too (synthesis for example)
and French scene seems dead since one year :-(

I can't gives you my opinion about the new Slach party because i did not go to the issue 4 and 5 wich was organized by a different team, but the Slach 1, 2 and 3 was very cool, sooo frenchie and lots of fun (better having some skills in english, french and spanish language).

for the new partys, some people said they was cool : try the small Iradium or the perhaps big AADN this year
is die demozone partij in het hollandse deel van almere oid?

Ok. let us go over the rules again.

DO NOT SCHEDULE YOUR PARTY THE SAME WEEKEND AS ANOTHER PARTY.

BAD! BAD! NO COOKIE!

(ok if you're on another CONTINENT maybe it's ok. MAYBE.)

I would, myself, like to go to a French party. I fully understand that it will be 100% different than all other parties. I'm ok with that. I'm also aware of the language issue thingages. It's a FRENCH DEMOPARTY, it's GOING TO BE DIFFERENT.

But it's on the WRONG FARGING WEEKEND! Can't we have it in like, June? I don't think I have any conflicting parties in June...
truckie: yes you do, you "new york, new york"-singing bastard. :) solskogen will be held from the 23rd to the 26th of june

i dont see the problem with overlapping parties on diferent countries unless both are quite big. sceners are lazy and broke bastards. they hardly bother showing up for local parties, they dont bother going anywhere over 3 hours transportation unless they know atleast a dozen people going there.

so, really, who gives a fuck if 2 parties coincide on date? the great majority of the attenders of one wouldnt go to the other anyways.

and just to get shifter's comment totally clear: demozone and scene event *HAD* overlapping dates. we moved and there'll be a bustrip.

skrebbel, define "there" ;) if you mean SE, it happens to coincide with my birthday so that'll make things kinda complicated this year. if you mean Campzone, well... isn't that a LAN-party?
added on the 2005-01-20 10:21:02 by havoc havoc
havoc, about the bustrip: there'll most probably be a bustrip going somewhat from demozone to SE, comforting all sceners who want to visit both.

and indeed, campzone is some sort of huge LAN, but demozone is not. demozone will be a standalone demoparty on the premises of campzone. this means high-quality features and facilities, but yet a sweet and fluffy demoscene-only atmosphere inside the tent. this may sound like a crappy solution at first, until you realise that there's nothing to do at demozone for the gamers or leechers (that they can't do outside on their own little quake clan fields). expect something like an open-air assembly where booze is actually allowed in the "oldschool area" and where the gamers don't vote.

anyhew, more info soonish on the website.

or, well, semi-open-air, cause we're in a big tent still.

just for the record: Buenzli has it's place on the same weekend in August for a while. If some French party now is at the same date, they suck. We of course saw this and decided to ignore it. Of course we want to have you at Buenzli, you should not give up that experience in change for an unknown French party ;-) But well, it's your decision. We've warned you.

Talking of the french, do you people also have issues with english or what? :)
added on the 2005-01-20 12:39:07 by keops keops
yep, the main issue being that the entire planet(*) can understand what you're saying :)

* minus france plus a couple dozen

french would at least be understandable as long as you guys don't use some extremly suspect Paris-style dialects or whatever. :)
