category: general [glöplog]

someone should organize an east-coast demoparty in New York City, with guest speakers and so on who don't make europe hate us even more than they do already :)

A bunch of us sceners live nearish to new york so it could be interesting!

Who's down?

The words I will tell you now may be a bit surprising for you, but they are wise words: Go and organize that party.

But yeah, asking people before whether they are interested and in partying there and/or helping is good. :)

plek, shut the fuck up.

But yeah, New York City might be a lot easier for europeans to get to than that certain other midwest place, and new york city is a lot cooler in general.

If there WAS a new york city demoparty, how many people would be interested in going? And when would be a good time?

If it was well organized, having enough attractions (good amount of compos, prizes, other program, cool location, a cash-bar...) you might get visitors from Europe as well, especially if no good parties were to be arranged around the same time (especially Easter and summer months from July to August are pretty much no-go).

Alternatively, have a party in San Francisco in March the weekend before or after GDC and you'll get some sceners there for sure. :)

phoenix- then maybe it's time we do something about it?

i've already put out word to some people that I know to see if I can find appropriate venues...

i'd be interested at least. just that i don't want to go to new york city just for a weekend at a demoparty and i guess staying somewhere even near there might be too expensive for me.
i don't suppose there would be any sceners with some floor space to spare? :)

First I think you should convince the autorities that sceners are not a bunch of socialist hackers that want to destroy the american way-o-life. Otherwise the Europan sceners could end celebrating the party in the airport detention facilities. Or even worse, on Guantanamo.

Nye... Just joking after a looooong workday.

A pre/post-GDC (ala Trax 10 Year Reunion) demoparty is a good idea. San Francisco is a great place to visit and a great excuse to go travelling.

If someone actually organized a demoparty in New York, I'd be there.

If it were up to me though (and I were rich, as in $$blingbling$$ rich), I would organize and hold a party in Las Vegas baby. Its cheap to get there, cheap to stay and eat in general, and, well... Vegas speaks for itself.

Enough with the "if"s. Someone put up! :)
