You can help a Ukrainian scener and he can fix your old machines

Right off the bat, I was never asked to write this post, or ask for help in the name of anybody. It also has nothing to do with politics - please keep such comments for yourselves.

A few days ago I was introduced to an Ukrainian demoscener, Konstantin, who's perhaps better described as a hardware guru (these are pretty much interchangeable in former Soviet countries). Originally, I wanted to buy a ZX Spectrum clone which he builds. In case you never knew, the ZX Spectrum is a very popular platform in former Soviet countries, and there are some exotic high end mutations, pretty much unknown in the West. They're worth your attention if you're into exotic hardware and retro. Eventually I bought a Spectrum Evolution from him, it's already on the way to me.

As we talked a little, he mentioned that he is in a very bad situation due to the war. He lost his job long ago. He is living in a village, and he used to have farm animals - including cows - to live on, but they're also gone. He's now building these machines, but it's not enough to make a living. It's not likely to get better anytime soon, and he can't even leave Ukraine to find a job abroad. His little workshop and his skills are his last resort not to starve.

Just as I was typing this, he just sent a video of a drone attack happening near his home. Fortunately not very close.

I thought he may appreciate it if I advertised his services here, and some of you might actually have some use for his services.

First: Konstantin is building these Speccy clones. Here you can see two ZX Spectrum Evolution boards he built; the right one is already mine, but the other is still available. He can build a new one in 2-3 months time. Other models are also available.

He also has other interesting stuff. For example, single board MSX clones.

Second: he is able to repair pretty much any old hardware. You can send it to him, and he sends it back when done. He is using a service called "Nova Poshta". They deliver anywhere in Europe (well, except Russia) for a very fair price. Shipping for my Evolution to Germany was $ 17, and it's expected to arrive in 4-5 days.

Third: I guess he can build anything else. If you have a small batch hardware project, and no time or expertise to build it, he may be your man.

Konstantin doesn't have fixed prices. He asked me how much I would like to pay. Expect the same if you contact him. You can find him on Telegram as @Kalantaj

If possible, do not mention this post to him, only that I recommended him to you. This was unsolicited advertisement - I hope the admins will forgive.
