Anyone here remember flipcode!?! I have fond memories
of course! such a gem back in the time, the first site I've opened every morning.... and with really quality content about coding, is such a thing existing today?
Flipcode <3
IOTD <3

yes, flipcode!
Especially the Developer Toolbox was a real goldmine.
It's a shame that the attempt to revive it a few years ago failed! I guess it was beyond the radar of most people. They should have made some more noise so people notice.
It's sad that nothing like it is out there. Blogging died off, and twitter can not really compete..
Do you remember Humus 3D website?

yeah flipcode rules
funny enough i was browsing the IOTD archive just a few days ago. flipcode forever, forever flipcode!
flipcode... where every week a new person posted a 3D terrain "engine" with the motivation "i started on a MMORPG, who wants to help?" never to be heard of ever again! :D
Maali> Holy shit!! I remember there being tons of terrain engines
Packed with good content.
Are there similar sites nowadays?

Still have the t-shirt.
flipcode was really cool.
loved the website, the dev toolbox and the "image of the day" section.

While Flipcode was really cool, don't forget that we also have an archive of coding-related articles at https://hugi.scene.org/online/coding/. Both archives partly cover the same topics and complement each other.
Terrain engines where the hot thing back then. :)
Ah, the IOTD was the daily treat though.

I took a backup of the team-wanted form.
Ohh! Now that's something I had almost forgotten about, but yeah, that was a site I visited daily back then.
Even managed to find my "Image of the day"-entry from 2000 in the archives:
OpenGL stuff
A neat little trip down memory lane for sure.

I also remember a site, Hugo Elias tutorials or something, I found a lot of stuff there. Can't find the site anymore.

People laugh about the terrain engines and then go and make yet another raymarcher..
Wouldn’t mind to see a nice non-raymarched terrain engine for a change? :)

Return is a good, recent example of interesting things done without raymarching.
Flipcode was awesome! One of my shitty engines is still shown on IOTD there:
