every new think wich promote demoscene culture with real medias or objects is good

I read on your faq :
Quote:
Having a book makes it easier to show your kids what daddy was doin' before he met mommy :).

true!, you understand pouët.net glöppers are the archivists of this culture

but
Quote:
We decided to leave out group names and personal handles, as well as production titles

sad, so i'll not find my nickname in it, so how can i'll show to my kids what their daddy doing before i meet their mummy if i can not proof it? demoscene is about fame too ;)

I'll wait to know the price it will cost for me before buying it, because it's seems to be too much poor in content to be buyed with closed eyes.sorry.

zone, by first glance of the published screenshots, i'd say to be in the book you'd have to be finnish and in one of their supported groups (fx. complex or katastro.fi)
Judging from the screenshots seen in the layout samples, rainmaker seems to be right about the finnish, katastro.fi-related bias....

I wouldn't be surprised if the book concluded that the demoscene is about smoking pot ;)

well, to be fair, at least they referred to it as the demoscene and not suomiskene. :)

Zone: Bah, i'll have my name (but real-life name) in a book much more serious and popular than that. But i'm not sure i can tell you yet. :) As if 20 publications in local magazines were not enough to show. :)

Rawer: i wonder what a book looks like when you leave out all the names. "The group whose name we cannot tell has had a wonderful breakthrough success with the demo pictured on the left. As we diceded to go without names, you would have to feed your further curiosity by licking on your own paw, like brown bears in our nordic countries usually do." :>>>>> No, OK, seriously, i trust you to know what you are doing... If you manage to get it really wrong, many sceners would have an urge to "talk" to you on private. :>>>>>>>

ps: i don't think the problem arises from judging the book by the cover. We judge it by the view of the authors (as we have nothing else) which is reflected in the official FAQ, which makes it very clear that the book will be marginally interesting to the demoscene public itself, and more as a demoscene promotion material, and that used art is very katastro.fi centric. That's all. No need to get angry.

I'm just highly annoyed by the fact that i walk by the katastro.fi office at LEAST twice a day (to and from work), but still have to go to kiasma to get the fucking thing :D

filipe: don't judge our comments without clicking through the discussed webpage - it features scans of the book (et voila).
yes i noticed those scans before saying my comment.

the saying is more symbolic then literal though.
dont pass judgment till you actually analysed it from the inside out..

unless its about a demoparty beeing announced for the 732948th time ofcourse, in which case you're freely allowed to throw random hearsay accusations and induce tremendous ludicrous chaos. =)
