what to do with permanent upvoters?
category: residue [glöplog]
I feel people are upvoting just because everyone else upvotes. There are a few exceptions when people downvote a prod amongst all the upvoters, I think that is of respect because they don't go with the majority flow. Are you being honest when you rate a prod? Also since there are _no_ concrete options (graphics, code, music) to which why someone upvotes or downvotes there is no way of figuring out why they do one over the other. Not everyone comment or say what the background is.
well scene is good and pushing it is good so every thumb up is good right, right?
kick! ban! fart!!!!
I respond with hate and permanent thumbdowning.
I could make more thumbs up/down ink stamps so you can apply these thoughts to more things in everyday life...? ;)
(I think maali ended up with the last Pouet-derived thumbs up/down stamp I did. I don't remember where its twin went.)

Kill 'em all.
Or, turn 360° and gtfoutta there

I just vote for prods I really like ... or that are absolutely crap in my opinion .. everything in between is a matter of taste ..
I am a permanent upvoter :/ I only like demos...
in the bright future Pouet will have a feature where you can upvote or downvote on other people's upvotes and downvotes, so it can be an Other channel for depressed, obsessive geeks to channel their inner tension and it can spawn at least 4-5 threads of people complaining about the feature, calling out each other with borderline-illegal accusations. if it happens, expect me to keep writing sarcastic posts.

nope, only the two middle finger ones... you did show me that one but no idea who you gave it to later on :)
Theres no need for downvotes.
No one cares what people dislike when it comes from creative things.
If i like something i can give thumbup. If i don't like it, i dont give thumbup. I don't need to explain why i dont like it or need to show it with a dislike. :)
Best system in the world is: like or leave. :)

the problem is, you call it like and dislike. facebook laid a foundation for this naming and it stuck. it bears strong emotional connotations.
mind you it's in fact UPVOTE and DOWNVOTE. far more objective sounding than like/dislike and this is basically the users helping with ranking the prods. it could be a one-way system (only vote/like) but that wouldn't work. that would just mean that a prod that is seen by more people are better, there is no "ok its popular but shit" balance

it would maybe work if the feature was called "Recommend prod" but i think better leave thing as it is and try to ignore (down)vote wars
(leave *THE thing as it is)
What if permanent thumbdowners and permanent thumbuppers are balacing eachother out?
