Contacting Tomcat

So, isn't it the case that the West is committing suicide?

Correct. It isn't the case. Not too sure tho how long that lasts given that right wing forces everywhere are hell bent on destroying every cultural and social achievement of the last few hundred years, but hey.

ham: I used to have a pretty good, almost amicable relationship with Tomcat back around 2000/2001.

kb: Are you a left-winger?

Those who advocate a leftist economic policy might be interested in reading the letter I sent to Sahra Wagenknecht, member of the German Bundestag, a month ago. Ms Wagenknecht is renowned for replying to all mails she gets, but to my letter, I haven't received any reply. I interpret this as follows: Factually, I am right, but if she admitted that, she would be losing her face, so she prefers to keep silent about it.

Yes. If someone refuses to reply to your drivel, it's always because you're right and they're wrong.

I mean seriously, I had hopes that in the last year you would have matured even a little bit, but, bwahahahahahaha. Fuck that.

kb, do you expect me to say: "Of course you are right, I always think that I am right and that everyone else is wrong, and that is not a good trait of mine, and so I will see to it that I improve, and I want to apologize, I am sorry"?

I like the civil liberties we have gained in Central Europe in the course of the past few centuries. They were hard earned, it all started with the 1848 revolution (maybe even with the French revolution of 1789). It took a long time until certain things became commonly accepted. Just mind that homosexual intercourse, for instance, was a criminal offence in many countries up until the 1970s.

But I do not like that politicians waste so much money, that the national debt gets larger and larger all the time, and while I am not opposed to immigration as such, I do not think that mass-import of "Nettoempfänger" will be helpful in this economic situation.

I am definitely neither a nazi nor a right-winger. I recently read a book by Peter Glotz, a former politician of the SPD. I was surprised that what he defined "left-wing" to be closely matched my understanding of classical liberalism. So, perhaps I am a left-winger myself after all. The reason why I asked you, kb, whether you are a left-winger was just because I wanted to provoke a reaction from you.

And Sahra Wagenknecht is a chapter of its own - and she is not a scener.

kb, and what is it that you understand by the term "maturity"?

Do you think that a mature person is expected to shut up and just do what the ones in superior positions in the social hierarchy ask him/her to do?

What makes you sure that the "superiors" are really right and you (the "simple peasant") are wrong?

It may be because you did not complete your university degree that you have some respect for academics which they in reality do not deserve. I could tell you many stories demonstrating the incompetence of so-called academics, including professors.

Don't give up your ability to think and come to conclusions yourself. It's not at all a sign of maturity to let others do the thinking for you.

I'm pretty sure all sceners are quite individual a opinionated persons, so they certainly can be perceived as "rebels" in many situations, but I don't see how those rebellious ways can correlate between them.

In my short scene history (~1992) I have seen all kind of people creating demos, music, graphics, and generally art. And no particular common shared idea seen, not even when constrained just to the demo merit, even there the differences in understanding are huge. And certainly not outside of that, like politics, alcohol consumption, or single scene-opinion on the correct side of banana peeling, or any other important topic.

:D (I personally find myself more like "satirical troll", than "rebel")

An example for "maturity" would be realizing that you pulled that second question out of our ass and there was not the slightest hint of it in what I wrote. Stop the bullshitting, it gets tiresome.

Heck, I won't discuss with you any further, kb. You have no clue about the situation here in Austria and how clueless and disinterested in anything but eating, drinking and having sex the young people I was forced to grow up with were.

You are a mine full of "maximum trolling" resources, Adok. I guess that's your way of being a rebel.

You know, there is nothing wrong with being a rebel and sometimes being a rebel is even the right thing to do especially if you are rebelling against injustice.

I understand that friendships are often based in the mutual admiration of the character or moral qualities between some individuals. Perhaps, as Tomcat used to defend ideas that are not quite politically correct you find him a "rebel" like you.

Anyway, in my opinion your friend is not a good company to keep around. Not only because of his defense of the utility of violence, not only because of his misogyny and his machismo or even not only for his rampant homophobia... The main reason is that you could one day disagree with him about some random thing and you will be disappointed with the result cause Tomcat don't manage very well criticism. Or maybe I am wrong cause that firm aversion to critics is a personality trait that, it seems, both of you have in common.

And again - that had nothing to do with what we discussed before. Arguing with you literally is like playing chess against a dove - you kick over all the pieces, defecate on the board and then strut around on it like you've won. Right. YOU're not discussing anything with ME. Uh-huh. :D

I am well ready to listen to somebody who has a clue about politics, economics, history, or philosophy. But throughout my whole life I have hardly ever met anybody who really had clue about one of these subjects. That's what I wanted to say.

The fact that I "only" have degrees in medicine and computer science and no degrees in politics, economics, history or philosophy does not prevent me from writing about these subjects. (dipswitch once criticized me for that.)
