So hotel rooms sold out in 10 minutes this year
added on the 2016-04-14 21:53:19 by leGend leGend
Well, there aren't that many hotel rooms at Joronjälki, but I was still surprised how quick we sold out.

Our sleeping area is located in a separate wing from the party area, and we are planning improvements on it based on the feedback from last year.

If you insist on having a hotel room, I personally recommend you book one from Varkaus and share a taxi with friends!

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. (FAQ: No, there isn't any rooms left at Joronjälki.)

Question: Why is the party in Joroinen, Finland? It appears quite a far flung party location? Is there a historic reason perhaps ?

The party used to be at Varkaus, which is another nearby (somewhat larger) town. I think it moved to Joroinen because of the venue.

There's only two kinds of cities in finland: capital-city area (Meaning Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa)... and far-flung.

So as soon as you decide to organize a party outside the capital wasteland, it doesn't really matter which city you choose. They countryside doesn't really look a lot different independent of where you go in finland and you can just choose a venue that's comfortable.

(just a note for the non-finnish; that's a set-up, there are really no roads or electricity in Hervanta)

Thanks again guys for the very loungeish, chillout and massive hectic environment at the Simulaatio, Joronjälki.

Everything seemed to go so smoothly, maybe a bit more of shouting about when the compos start, like 15 minutes before. People, drunken especially, need to be reminded :)

Anyway... even though we were less.. and to the question: why were there less people..

It was good to meet Xerxes, Noby and more for the first time in real life :)

Thanks to all organizers for the awesome party! And extra thanks for organizing the great (vegetarian) food! It is always nice when there is food served that you can actually eat.

I had never been at Joronjälki before and it was quite... Legendary. It wasn't that bad as I was told to but there were some humorous moments in the hotel room when e.g. blinds came down by just breathing towards the window. :P

In the end it was great weekend with great people. I hope to see you soon again! :)

Definitely two thumbs up for the tortillas and the burgers, and for not having just vegetarian options, but vegan cheese and creme fraiche as well. Everything was even more delicious than last year. Also thumbs up to the compo crew for making it, barring Assembly, possibly the most on-schedule party in Finnish demoscene history :)

So, we'll all be back next year, right?
