## What is your Dixan Number?

**category:**residue [glöplog]

Dixan (old enough and still rockin') is an influential musician who spent a large portion of his life writing music with a large number of colleagues, working on outstanding releases.

I just realised mine is 1

**Quote:**

TheDixan numberdescribes the "collaborative distance" between a person and musican Dixan, as measured by authorship of demoscene productions.

To be assigned aDixan number, someone must be a coauthor of a production with another person who has a finite Dixan number. Dixan has a Dixan number of zero. Anybody else's Dixan number is k+1 where k is the lowest Dixan number of any coauthor.

I just realised mine is 1

Or 2

I'm wondering where that quote came from.

Likely written by someone who can count even before drinking coffee

well, mine passes through you, so it's either 2 or 3.

go make a graph about that!

go make a graph about that!

I have a bstrr number of zero.

mine is 2, so yours is 3 if you haven't core leased with dix :)

ham: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erdős_number maybe?

I suppose this has to do with the "seven degrees of separation" theory..

1. I was writing code for a fast intro at The Trip 1999, and he was writing code too, customizing Pan's raytracing engine. So it's 1 with Dixan as a coder.

Mine is also 1, if it counts that he did some finishing touches on the music our intro "out of order"

According to styx, mine must be at most three, with red making music for Styx' prods and me working with red on multiple prods. My erdős-dixian-number would be 8.

the_YeTi is right. It is common among mathematicians to boast with their Erdös number.

Mine is 1.

Cupe: Yours is 2. ;)
