Ok, again for the stupid ones (and by that I mean you):
I haven't said ANYTHING about if it's ok to crack/copy/sell stuff that others claim copyright on. If you ask me, probably not (I'm earning a living developing games so I'd like people to buy them, naturally) but then the whole entertainment industry (including the games one) is so full of shit that it'd be perfectly ok if all the useless middleware idiots in it died a horrible, painful death, the whole industry collapsed and I lost my job. I'll survive. And it was to make the world a better place. Also, there are lots of subcultures that prove art will never die even in a world without copyrights, and I also know that the game industry probably wouldn't have taken off like it did weren't it for the fact that back then everyone had every game anyway.
But: That's not the point. Not at all. Also, I haven't touched either FLT or the topic "money" with a single word in the posts above.
The point is: You, dear cracking scene, are a bunch of fucking hypocrites. You have no problem with cracking and distributing others' software, music, movies, etc. But when suddenly it's YOU who has been ripped off by someone, you start crying for mommy. And stop whining about "but he did it for money". Because how many Euros are we talking about, actually, that Roy "stole" from Alien? How does that compare to the musicians who never earn a single cent because their album hit TPB two weeks before the official release, and how does it compare to the countless small indie game studios that had to close because literally everyone copied their game even though it was only €10 for hours of fun? I know you're all totally like Robin Hood and stuff, but in reality what you do is endangering the careers and lives of actual people. And if you do it anyway, it's "ok", do it - but then getting totally worked up about one measly logo is so fucking stupid that it's almost funny again. No wait, it IS. :)

And I am very aware of the industry and the impact piracy has on it. I myself have been living of music and only music for five years now and I put my own albums up on TPB and supply it to releasegroups. I dont cry when ppl dont buy but download my stuff, I adapt. But I would cry if someone alterd & sold my stuff for their profit though but I honestly dont see the relation between altering and making a profit from someones work (timbaland, roy) and just spreading it (releasegroups). I would defend alien in such a case even if it wasnt a razorlogo but a Titanlogo (fuckings to iks btw ^_^) that was ripped of.

ok cool to be degraded to just a simple warez scener. Guess all the demo's ive worked on mean totally nothing whenu did gfx for a cracktro or 2. im not even a member of those crackgroups, but i work for anyone with a passion for scene, demo or even a cracktro.
but cool to know that ppl like keops count artists like rez, jibe, kenet and all ppl who ever done something crack as lowlife warezsceners. so yeah cool to troll me too.

I see your point and that Roy guy does seem like a dick but you could've known that people were gonna run with this and build a huge, as Rez properly put it factually non-existent, issue out of it that in the end has little to do with what you brought up in the first place, let alone you as a person or the details.

The relation is simple. From a creator's POV it doesn't even matter whether some guy distributed your stuff for free or for money. The result is the same: The money doesn't go your way. Why should I care if someone else got rich - I wouldn't either way. In the end it might even turn out better for you if someone sold your stuff illegally; at least there would be some matter to sue out of them.
Anyway, back to the original point: The hypocrisy lies in that members of the warez scene are kind of expected to rip other people off. It's what they do either for a living or for a hobby, after all. So I still can't understand why anyone i the slightest bit surprised if they do that not only to the big industries but to other members of their scene or affiliated ones. Let alone get mad over it. Really. In 1993 I made a small game as part of a C64 demo, and when it ended up as part of a "commercial" warez collection disk half a year later, I was like "whatever. Those idiots are getting desperate, huh? :D" from the get-go. Especially when it happened again one year later with our next demo ;)
Stuff like that happens. And yeah, it doesn't even matter if its done by Roy or Timbaland; That I didn't "preach" back then was probably because the music industry are even bigger hypocrites when it comes to ripping off other artists while vigorously defending their so-called "rights". If both parties are acting stupidly, it's ok to root for the underdog in that case. Also, Tempest is a sellout whore, or so I've heard :P
Anyway. You adapted and distribute your releases yourself. Wise choice, you know what happens and if you provide mp3s to the release group at least they can't fuck up the encoding just to get a first. And why did you do it? Because you expect your albums to end up on TPB anyway.
And that's the whole point. People active in the cracking scene are not nice persons. They're criminals, kind of. So why the hell should anyone expect them NOT to rip you off sooner or later?
