Move to Finland and become a student; if you can eat stuff worth of 1500 calories per day with the money you get from KELA then you're lucky.

My friends said something similar about the place I am currently living. They said it would be too easy to loose weight because the English food sucks. Guess what, it didn't happen (so far). If one is addicted to food, he will eat everything.
Once I talked about these stuff with some old programmer from my past job who was in an extreme condition (like 170 kilos and he recently made that operation that makes your stomach thinner). We have the same problem, food addiction. He told me he could quit smoking after 20 years BUT STILL not food. That's how addictive it was for him. I don't know if we are at the same levels of addiction but I asked him what can I do when it's addictive and he told me "Go to a hypnotist and ask him to convince you that you don't like food".

Really, all you have to do is eat the same stuff you normally eat in smaller portions. If you're hungry still, eat some diet crap between meals.

I recently that there are two different school of thought, fighting with each other. The regular food pyramid with more carbs and vegetables and less meat. And the primate who say yeah, you can eat lot's of meat and fat and avoid carbs, carbs is the reason of obesity, not fat. It's all confusing..
Eat this, not eat that, eat in this hour, not that,. do this, that, even things that could be substitutes like aspartame is nono. If I accumulated all the posts together, maybe I should eat nothing and eat everything at the same time.
And I am still bothered by the simplicity. Most of the answers, it's simple, do this and that and I did and I lost. Not many people where in the real struggle. Maybe, I am just excusing myself one would say, I avoid doing the obvious. But I have seen not a single person speaking that it's not easy at all. For some people maybe.
Sometimes I want to solve this and come back and give an ultimate solution that won't be hey it's simple, just eat less and exercise more. But without becoming a televengelsit with the ultimate sollution and huge website with big letters. But something that nobody has ever heard before. Why am I alone here?

But that is the ultimate solution. You can twist it any way you like or invent a fancy diet, but it all boils down to "if calories taken in <= calories spent, you'll lose weight". And of course it's hard. Giving up nice things in life and having to do work often is.
I mean it doesn't help my spirit to hear the obvious eat less, exercise more. Then I am here and thinking, what am I doing all these years, can't I even follow the obvious steps?
And it's not that I don't follow. I have my times of less carbs, no sugar stuff, then I come back. I also have the theory that many people never accumulated fat so easily. I didn't eat more than my peers when it started but was growing by the years while others kept the same. There are people who eat amazing shit and stay thin (but maybe not healthy inside). I am not saying that I am the exact opposite of the strange girl who eats 600cals only and still doesn't loose. I can do it, there is a loss for 5 days of struggle (in logical terms, just targetting 1600-1700cals instead of over 2000) there maybe little drop, but if I get forgetful and destroy that for next 1-2 days (and still maybe 2400cals) I gain for mistakes regardless I struggled for 5 days and only broke it for 2 days. The balance is against me. And I try to even be careful not only about calories but what is it. Avoiding candies/beverages (but only allow me aspartame shit, there must be a substitute), using olive oil, and all stuff. I got some fruits now, I'll try again. But when things doesn't work, I really don't have an answer (anyone could ignore the healthy choices I try and point to 1 out of 7 unhealthy choice being the mistake). Or maybe I could make some strict perfect thing to prove them wrong? Like look, I ate 100% the healthy and avoided 100% the unhealthy. But it's not possible. I believe people make more mistakes and loose, while my body looses the battle with little mistakes.

By the way, there are people that just get fat no matter what, and sometimes it's a medical condition. And then there are people who can eat anything and stay slim. In Finnish they're called "läpipasko", something like pass-through-to-shit or DirectShit(tm).
Walk more. Avoid mechanical stairs.
Exercise, eat less shit food.
i wouldn't spend 2 hours / day either, there's too much other stuff to do. There's the 7 minute workout though, i tried that thinking it was a pretty funny idea, it's actually pretty good. Kind of a super condensed workout.
But yeah, forget all the crazy diets. Some might "work", but they have serious downsides. Like atkins, you cut sugars and carbs and lose weight, but that's because you body has no sugar to burn for energy so instead it breaks down muscle tissue into sugars. You lose muscle instead of fat, it's a very bad move.
The only diet i'd trust is, indeed, eating less. That's hard, but it's only very hard if you go too extreme with it so you're hungry all the time. Instead of eating 50% less, try 10% less. You're still getting 90% of your food, it's not a big hit, but it's probably enough.

I'd think stubbornness actually helps you with it. You make the decision you want to make and then you're stubborn enough to stick with it even if it hurts. Every single time you feel like succumbing to candy and chocolate and McDonald's and who knows what kind of crips binges, you just don't do it.

You could also get a personal trainer, or something like that, to keep an eye on you and give you

optimus: it seems to me you're making excuses for yourself and not trying for real. unless you have a physical condition preventing you from losing weight your inability to accomplish your goal is 90% in your head. it is known that if you start off thinking you will fail you'll be sabotaging yourself every step of the way. so here is the secret trick: stop being a whining little bitch. If you _really_ want to be fit, then get to work and make it happen. I know you can do it. Believe in yourself. Do it properly for a couple of weeks (give it your 120%, no cheating, no lazying, no whining, no excusing yourself) and measure the results and only then decide if it was worth the effort to keep at it or not.
And let's be honest to myself, I just want to reduce a number. Which I know I will get back but at least if I can reduce it big it's much better than now that is always stable with slight yo-yo and maybe yearly increasing.
I said that I may excuse myself, ok. But I am not sure what people think I it. People who see me maybe think "Oh that guy must be eating 3 Gyros and 2 Pizza and 3 cans of Red Bull per day and candies and stuff". It's not the case. I am not saying I am eating perfectly. But slight mistakes elevate me easier and more effort days are needed to lower more than gain. I know now, because I was chronic fat, I see my pictures of every ages, I was slowly and slowly accumulating weight while my brothers stayed thin. That chronic can only be for me that I have a predisposition for weight gain, but of course in our western world with bad food habits. Everyone is having pizza or beers with friends. I was also playing football at school or make long walks (in case you say, your brothers also exercised while you didn't, so it countered the effect). The lifestyles are not vastly different. It's chronic slow gaining weight and harder to loose. Ok,. I understand that if I work more with this I will make it (put a pistol in my head and say "if you eat more than 600 cals or don't run for 1 hour I am gonna kill you" and everyone could loose weight) but generally I think I have it harder and it was more easy to take the wrong road and get easily fatter with no return for me.
