category: parties [glöplog]
abyss: also thank you very much for shuffeling the pricegiving ceremony order so we actually could get to the airport on time :)

We had fun watching the compo stream. So much fun actually that during the show two policemen walked (unannounced) into my appartment. we were like.. wtf.

we also enjoyed the stream over here, and thanks to my slightly paranoid self managing the volume, the police stayed out this time. things used to be different before, thanks to my pesky neighbours. :)

Are there recorded ASM videos of the events? I wished I could go, but I am too far and disabled. :(

maybe have less people in the room, spend less time on introductions and have more interesting people with insight and stuff to say instead of just trolling the talks.

We always try and do something "different"/"special" for the demo compostudio, and when we say "bring EVERYONE" to a few sceners, we know full well that people are lazy and won't come, so we were expecting 10 including myself and Setok. When we ended up with 14, we knew it was going to be a bit of a piss-take, but a good fun piss-take none the less.

Now, I really would like to have talked to Navis/Amoivikos more, but Truck was absolutely right, we were concentrating solely on ASD and others were asking him questions too, some of which I found a *little* harsh.

Honestly, though, I think we had a great time, and I've had some fantastic feedback (both positive, and negative, but almost all constructive) on what we need to think about next year.

The one thing I'd love to do, though this might be a real problem to get done is to do some "inserts" (as we call them, you'd say clips) of interviews with ASD, FLT, Kewlers, Dekadence, MFX - i.e., some of the larger groups with history and interview them to make a proper scene show (maybe 1 hour long) for next year's AssemblyTV.

Added to that, I'd love to maybe get some input from the non-group sceners, as well as some graphicians and musicians, and make a real documentary (in the style of Top Gear, not in the style of Walking With Dinosaurs) out of it. The idea would NOT be to be professional, NOT to be a circlejerk, NOT to give people free reign to say "WE'RE AWESOME, YOU SUCK!" and most certainly NOT to make a load of money selling DVDs or be a portfolio generator for either the sceners or myself, but to take a snapshot of the scene to show those who aren't familiar with us and say "hey, look at this, this is fucking awesome, come along, why not see if you can do better".

Time and again I'm asked by people at Assembly "what is this all about" and I'd like to point them in the right direction rather than only say "you'll see at midnight" and leave them wanting more with nowhere else to turn (I ain't pointing people to pouet!)

Does that sounds like a good idea to anyone? Even if it's doomed to failure, I think it's got to be worth a try...

See, I told you Meaty would make an excellent Jeremy Clarkson.

dotwaffle, that sounds like a great idea. I'd love to watch something like that, and I'm sure a lot of other people would to

dotwaffle: That's definately a great idea. It would require a huge (and continous) amount of work, but there's definately an ordience and it's about time someone take a step forward from diskmags and websites.

On a sidenote - Assembly should really consider doing the quiz in english. Watching the stream, I was sadened to see that everything was in finnish, rendering the show pretty boring to the stream-viewers. Perhaps an internal guideline that everything broadcasted on the stream should be in english. English or don't stream ;-)

a demoscene youtube channel? :)
there is some shows at http://scenesat.com/archive
I enjoyed the compostudio in general and listening to Navis in particular. Next year I would love to see an addition studio session (besides the compostudio) with just two or three guests, like Navis and Smash for example, in the sofa.

You know how that would end, don't you?

It's not like the others, some exceptions not withstanding, had anything useful to add, really. Now if there were more actual participants there...

And being 'right' doesn't make being rude right. In fact it remains utterly stupid, painful and as Rasmus put it, attentionwhore-ish.

I guess I spent more time than most in that compostudio trying to figure out the international hand signal for "FFS give me the microphone, I actually have something to say about the demo you just handwaved away in 5 seconds", but I don't think it would be fair to blame anyone in particular for that. I will echo what dotwaffle said, though: Truck's interventions almost certainly meant that we did a better job of covering ten demos rather than two.

gasman: That handsign would be exactly the same you use to draw a waitors attention to your need for an extra bottle of wine when dining.

Unfortunately, that handsign is yet to be discovered ... ;-)

Is there any recording of the gigs on thursday and friday and a chance we get to see them? As far as I understood the bands just didnt want it to be aired "live" without proper mixing.

Excellent assembly! I felt I owe it to some people to give thanks about the party:

Abyss & Pehu - for making all the stuff possible. Also Pehu was half the size he was before so congratulations for that aswell.

Compocrew - nice folks with seemingly endless patience regarding the entries. Espicially spiikki, Paaris, oasiz, mayor, Jope and sivu.

AssemblyTV - big hand to our hosts dotwaffle and Setok for being very nice hosts and nice people. Also a big hand to all the folks I was with on the air, had a great time this year again. Also a big thank you for the producers kirjiz, Late and luuk.

Boozembly - the dis-organizers rule. Also an excellent shirt design. Hopefully we will still own the rocks next year. Fuckings to the estonian dicks who came to steal our food and pick on a fight.

Scenesat - a big had to Ziphoid who had the time to help me got the friday show started, even though he had to deal with LCP on the same time. Also: Truck - thankyou for making me use the superior apple :P. Sorry for missing the fastmusic compo, but we had quite a lot of troubles with the a/v.

and last but not least:

Greetings to all sceners and all my friends who I saw at the party or at bzm. Without you the party would be quite bland! Excellent compos, excellent prods!

I wanted to make a positive post here, so I will extend my criticism via other means of communication.

See ya all next year! AAAMIIIIGAAAAAAA!!

Great party indeed. Didn't have much time for Boozembly this year (Usual excuses kids & work). But great seminars, great compos and great people.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the very same Top Gear here, because that show is anything but genuine and devoid of pompous "wit" you're trying to avoid.
