Hehe... my 6600gt broke too, so to fix I got a 7900gtx :D except now my psu keeps cutting out, so I need a new one :(
I had a 6600 before which one day just showed random ascii in bios and continued with random pixels in windows...
well I guess my card just wants to rest in peace.
